Dallas-Fort Worth is the nation’s fourth-largest metropolitan area, and business appears to be booming. It is home to 22 Fortune 500 companies and 42 Fortune 1000 companies.
Dallas-Fort Worth has a thriving arts scene with more than 20 performing venues for music, dance, opera, and theater. There are also 24 major museums, including the African American Museum, Fort Worth Museum of Science and History, and the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth. Anchored by the Dallas Museum of Art, Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center and AT&T Performing Arts Center, the 70-acre Dallas Arts District is the largest urban arts district in the country.
As big as the arts are in Dallas-Fort Worth, professional sports is a major player, too. The metropolitan area is home to seven major league teams. The Dallas Cowboys are considered the second most valuable franchise in sports history. The Dallas Mavericks won the NBA Championship in 2011. And the Texas Rangers made it to the World Series in 2010 and 2011. Other teams include the Dallas Futbol Club Major League Soccer team, the Dallas Griffins Major League Rugby team, the Dallas Wings Women’s National Basketball Association team, and the Dallas Stars National Hockey League team.
