Safer Travel at Every Step

Before You Go

The travel experience looks a little different now, so we’re here to help you navigate the changes before you go. To help you arrive prepared, we’ve included a few things for you to do before your trip.

1. Travel Checklist

Review TSA’s Checklist before packing to see what you can bring. Note that all passengers are allowed a 12oz bottle of liquid hand sanitizer through U.S. checkpoints. International security allowances may vary.

2. Packing Your Carry On

Pack light if bringing a carry-on bag. To reduce touchpoints on board, our crew members are unable to assist customers placing bags in overhead bins.

3. Fly Delta APP

Download the Fly Delta app for a touchless travel experience. Access your boarding pass  and check the seat map for blocked seats ahead of time from your own device.

4. Pre-Trip Email

Review your pre-trip email from us for information on how you can prepare for your upcoming trip.

5. Travel Requirements

Check your destination's entry requirements before arriving at the airport, as several states and countries have issued Travel Requirements that may affect your trip.

6. Bring on the Flight

Bring a mask or face covering and pack your own food items. This is especially important for long flights, since many airport food offerings are limited during this time.

7. Need a Ride?

Link your accounts with Lyft on delta.com/lyft and earn 2 miles per $1* with Lyft on airport rides in the U.S. Learn more about the safety measures Lyft is taking to protect riders and drivers.

You will keep possession of your ID and boarding pass, place them on the reader, and hold them up for visual inspection.

2. ANTI-MICROBIAL BINS AT SELECT AIRPORTS

TSA Officers are required to wear masks and change their gloves after each pat down and upon passenger request.

4. MORE SPACE FOR SAFE DISTANCING

TSA is opening more checkpoint lanes where possible to reduce time spent in line and placing visual reminders of appropriate spacing on checkpoint floors.

5. ACRYLIC BARRIERS

Acrylic barriers are being installed at key points of interaction between you and TSA Officers.

6. CONTINUOUS CLEANING

Increased cleaning and disinfecting of frequently touched surfaces and security screening equipment, including bins.

At the Gate & Boarding

Clean surfaces and safe distancing are our key priorities at the gate and during boarding. To deliver on that commitment, we've updated our procedures for more space, cleaner surfaces and reduced contact with other customers.

1. Delta’s Clean Ambassadors

These coordinators oversee rigorous quality-assurance inspections and ensure our facilities and aircraft are consistently clean and sanitized. The team is expected to be in 55+ airports by spring 2021.

2. Electrostatic Spraying

Electrostatic spraying with high-grade disinfectant is used to sanitize our gate areas and jet bridges; the sprayers disperse the disinfectant in a fine mist which clings to surfaces throughout the entire area.

3. MORE SPACE AT THE GATE

Safe spacing decals are on stanchions and alternating seats in the Delta gate areas to promote safe distancing.

4. FACE MASKS FOR CUSTOMERS

All customers must wear a mask or face covering, and extra masks and Care Kits will be available at the gate if you need one.

The Fly Delta app can be used to scan your boarding pass for touchless boarding. App users will also be sent a notification that their aircraft has been sanitized and inspected before boarding.

10. BOARDING PROCESS

To minimize your contact with other customers, boarding will occur from back to front, with those customers seated at the back of the aircraft boarding first. Boarding is now limited to 10 customers at a time.

11. JET BRIDGE SANITIZATION & AIR FILTRATION

In addition to wiping down jet bridges, air filters were upgraded to LEED Platinum MERV14s at 600+ Delta gates. These sustainable, top-of-the-line filters provide a significant reduction in air particles.

9. Blankets and Bedding

All blankets and bedding are laundered after every flight and all Main Cabin pillows are disposed after every use.

10. Face Masks for Customers

Customers must wear masks or face coverings throughout the entire duration of the flight, except during meal service.

All armrests are thoroughly wiped down and sanitized before every flight.

Unpacking Our Added Layers of Protection

While all the changes we’ve made are meant to keep you safe, we know it’s a lot to take in. Delta is partnering with trusted experts from the medical field and leaders in disinfection and sanitization to help us revolutionize a safer and cleaner travel experience for all customers and our employees. We’re here to help answer your questions and break down everything we can all do to make travel safer. The more we all know, the safer the skies. So, Let’s Unpack That.

We’re committed to cleaner air, space, and surfaces as part of our elevated standard of cleanliness. Air on all aircraft is recirculated as often as every 2-6 minutes with fresh, outside air or through industrial-grade HEPA filters with similar performance to those used in hospital operating rooms.
