Changes to Our Experience

Our experience may change, but our commitment to you remains.

To ensure we provide you the safest travel experience, we're making temporary changes to the experience you've come to love. While the signature hospitality of our crew remains unchanged, you’ll start to see the following temporary changes to our onboard experience and offerings on all flights:

We appreciate your understanding, and please know that your safety, and that of our crew, continues to guide our decisions around crafting the right experience based on the current environment.

If you're traveling with one of our trusted partners, learn more about the measures each one is taking to keep you safe.

Face Masks Required for Everyone's Safety

Delta customers and employees are required to wear a face mask, or appropriate face covering over their nose and mouth throughout their travel, aligning with best practice guidelines from the CDC

Face coverings will be required across all Delta touchpoints:

  • Lobby Check-in
  • Delta Sky Clubs
  • Boarding Gate Areas
  • Jet Bridges
  • On board the aircraft for the duration of the flight – except during meal service

Usage is strongly encouraged in high-traffic areas, including security lines and restrooms. People unable to keep a face covering in place, including children, are exempt, along with those who have trouble wearing a mask due to an underlying medical condition. Customers are encouraged to communicate their exception with a Delta representative when asked to wear a face covering. While we encourage customers to bring their own face covering when traveling, supplies will be available for those who need them. To learn about Delta Partner carrier face mask policies, click here.

Carry-On Bag Policy

Beginning June 3rd, as part of our continued efforts to reduce touchpoints on board, flight attendants are unable to proactively assist customers placing carry-on baggage into overhead bins, with certain exceptions. In addition to keeping customers and crew members safe and healthy, this change also protects flight attendants by decreasing the likelihood of injury caused by repetitive lifting.

Making Space for Safer Travel

To make space for safer travel, the following temporary changes will be implemented on all Delta-operated flights through September 30, 2020:

  • Blocking middle seats in all cabins on all aircraft, and blocking select aisle seats in aircraft with 2x2 seating configurations.
  • Reducing the total number of passengers in each cabin to 50% in First Class and Delta One cabins with one aisle; 60% in Main Cabin, Delta Comfort+ and Delta Premium Select; and 75% in Delta One cabins with two aisles.
  • Modifying our boarding process to board by row, starting from the rear of the aircraft to the front. Delta One, First Class and Diamond Medallion customers may board at any point during the boarding process.
  • On June 10, we resumed automatic, advance Medallion Complimentary Upgrades to Delta One (domestic U.S.), First Class and Delta Comfort+ that were previously managed at the gate. Subject to availability, and as permitted by our seating caps.
  • Additionally, on select routes where customer demand is approaching our seating-caps, we will look for opportunities to upgrade to larger aircraft or add more flying to promote space onboard.

If you're looking for seating options directly next to travel companions and family members, please speak to an agent at the gate.

Food and Beverage Offerings

We’re paring down our onboard food and beverage options in an effort to reduce physical touch points between customers and employees.

As always, you are welcome to bring your own food and non-alcoholic beverages on board to enjoy during flight. Since many airport offerings are limited at this time, we recommend packing your own refreshments and encourage you to review TSA guidelines, before bringing food through security checkpoints.

All glassware, including coffee mugs and champagne flutes, has been removed from every Delta flight.

Hot towel service is suspended temporarily from every Delta Flight.
