Valley of the Sun

Surrounded by colorful mountains and breathtaking desert landscapes, Phoenix has boomed in popularity and is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country. In this city in the desert, visitors find a thriving culinary scene, upscale shopping and vibrant art and music scenes. Discover unique neighborhoods throughout the city, each with its own personality.

Explore Scottsdale or Paradise Valley for upscale hotels, fine dining and busy nightlife. Or wander the Tempe Mill Avenue District for weekend farmer’s markets and restaurants, just steps away from Arizona State University. Beyond the urban charms of Phoenix and its environs, an outdoor-lover’s paradise awaits, with breathtaking hikes of Camelback Mountain close by and the Grand Canyon within driving distance in northern Arizona.

With well over 480,000 annual flights serving more than 51 million passengers, Phoenix Sky Harbor International is the largest and busiest airport in Arizona. Delta uses Terminal 3, which is accessible by train from the other terminals.

Phoenix Excursions

From anywhere in Phoenix, it’s easy to spot nearby mountains to explore. For nearby hiking, explore Camelback Mountain or Piestewa Peak. Topping out at 1,000 feet, they offer excellent hiking and rock climbing along with sweeping views of the city. Close to Camelback, you’ll find great restaurants, golf and some of the city’s best hotels. For longer hikes, considering renting a car for a short 2-3 hours to find some of the nation’s most incredible natural wonders in Sedona, Flagstaff and at the Grand Canyon.

Phoenix Dining

Phoenix offers a wide variety of cuisines, combining local ingredients and global flavors. If you’re looking to explore a bit, try the Roosevelt Row Arts District — known as RoRo — for some of the city’s best coffee and most unique eats. For upscale dining, nightlife and hotels, head to Scottsdale or Paradise Valley. Try the Hermosa Inn in Paradise Valley, a chic hotel with beloved restaurants. In Scottsdale, enjoy fine-dining at Monarch, well-crafted pizza at CRAFT 64 or visit modern speakeasy Second Story Liquor Bar

Family Outings in Phoenix

If you’re looking for something to do as a group, The Heard Museum provides a personal, exceptional lens into American Indian art and history, with a focus on the tribes of the Southwest; its collection is engaging for all ages. The Desert Botanical Garden also has something for everyone, and is regarded as an excellent introduction to the region's unique desert ecology.

While warm in the summer, Phoenix enjoys moderate temperatures in the 70s for most months — perfect weather for biking, golfing, swimming, hiking or enjoying the outdoors at one of the city'smany resorts or parks. Thanks to its desert location, Phoenix receives little rainfall. Pack layers to enjoy the sun during the day with a jacket or sweater in the evening, since nights in this dry region can feel quite cool.
