Embargoes & Limitations



Whether it’s due to weather, weight restrictions or limited baggage space, some airports around the world impose baggage limitations or embargoes. Review current embargoes for your next destination. Unless otherwise noted, Delta will accept up to 2 standard checked bags per customer during embargo periods.

The following restrictions apply to travel to/from the destinations listed below:

  • Exception – Boxes are NOT permitted to/from Brazil, Mexico, and Chile at any time of the year.
  • Regional Jet Service – No excess baggage (weight, size or piece) will be accepted on Delta Connection® or other regional jet flights to/from Mexico.
  • Plastic Wrapped Checked Luggage Restriction – Tampa, Florida – Effective Monday August 19 2019, Tampa, Florida (TPA) airport authority will no longer accept any plastic wrapped checked luggage. Please remove plastic wrapping before checking a bag.
  • Embargo Dates – Excess baggage pieces will not be accepted on flights to the following destinations during these specified dates. Unless otherwise noted, Delta will accept up to 2 checked pieces per customer during embargo periods listed. Standard checked bag fees apply.
