Military Baggage

You serve us, and we’re delighted to serve you. When you’re an active member of the United States Marine Corps, Army, Air Force, Space Force, Navy or Coast Guard, you’ll find baggage fee exceptions whenever you travel, whether it’s on military orders or for leisure. You’ll also find a military discount on flights, Delta Vacations®, military pet travel and more.

Notes: These benefits are still subject to any applicable embargoes or regional weight restrictions. This allowance applies to Delta-Marketed tickets, including travel operated by Aeromexico, Air France, KLM, Korean Air, LATAM, and Virgin Atlantic.

Military Checked Baggage Allowance
On military orders, your bags can be up to 80 linear inches (length + width + height) or 203 cm. For personal or leisure travel as an active military member, your bag can be up to 62 linear inches or 157 cm.

Carry–on Baggage

When you travel with Delta, you’re always allowed 1 free carry-on bag and a personal item, as long as they meet carry–on requirements.

Excess Checked Baggage

Military Pet Travel

We believe furry members of your family should go where you do. That’s why we accept animals as checked baggage on Delta flights only for active U.S. Military or active U.S. State Department Foreign Service Officers (FSO) and their spouses and/or dependents with active transfer orders, such as a Permanent Change of Station. Explore our complete guide to Military Pet Travel.

Animals Accepted as Carry–on Baggage

For small dogs, cats and household birds, it’s possible to carry them on your flight as long as you pass through security. Review the requirements for carry–on pets.

Animals Accepted as Checked Baggage

You may transport up to two kennels per flight and some restrictions may apply. Some giant–sized kennels must be shipped as cargo with another professional provider, due to space requirements. Review Military Pet Travel guidelines.
