Change Your Flight


For most tickets, you can make standard flight changes including time, date and destination up to 24 hours of your flight departure. If you’re trying to change within 24 hours of your flight departure, review Same-Day Ticket Changes. Some tickets, such as Basic Economy fares, cannot be changed after the Risk-Free Cancellation period.

HOW TO CHANGE A NON-REFUNDABLE TICKET

With a non-refundable ticket, you can change your flight when you pay a change fee starting at $200-500, depending on the location where you’re traveling, plus the price difference.

    1.     Find Your Trip or Log In, and go to My Trips
    2.    Select the flight you need to change
    3.    Click on 'Modify Flight'
    4.    Click on 'Start Flight Change'
    5.    Choose new flight(s)
    6.    Complete check out and pay any change fee and fare difference
    7.     Get your confirmation

DOMESTIC TICKET CHANGE FEES

For travel within the 50 United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, change fees are $200 (per ticket) for Delta-marketed flights. After paying the $200 change fee, the remaining value of your old ticket will apply towards the cost of your new flight.

INTERNATIONAL TICKET CHANGE FEES

For travel outside the 50 United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, the change fee starts at $200, depending on the length of flight, location and type of fare.

HOW TO CHANGE A REFUNDABLE TICKET

You may change your ticket without paying a change fee, provided all fare and ticket rules are met and seats are available. If the ticket price has increased since your original purchase, you may need to pay the difference in price from your original fare to your new fare.

    1.     Find Your Trip or Log In, and go to My Trips
    2.    Select the flight you need to change
    3.    Click on 'Modify Flight'
    4.    Click on 'Start Flight Change'
    5.    Choose new flight(s)
    6.    Complete check out and pay any fare difference
    7.     Get your confirmation

HOW TO CHANGE YOUR AWARD TICKET

To change an Award Ticket, you must make the change at least 72 hours (or more) before your flight (departure or return). You’ll pay a $150 USD reissue fee to complete your change, which is waived for Diamond and Platinum Medallion members.

    1.     Find Your Trip or Log In, and go to My Trips
    2.    Select the flight you need to change
    3.    Click on 'Modify Flight'
    4.    Click on 'Start Flight Change'
    5.    Choose new flight(s)
    6.    Complete check out and pay any reissue fee and price difference
    7.     Get your confirmation

Third-Party Ticket Changes


If you need to change a ticket that Delta didn’t issue, such as a ticket you purchased through a hotel or vacation package, additional fees may apply.

ADDITIONAL THIRD-PARTY TICKET HANDLING CHARGES MAY APPLY TO:

  • A traditional travel agency
  • An online travel agency
  • Another airline, including SkyTeam and codeshare partners

ADDITIONAL CHARGES WILL NOT APPLY TO:

  • Tickets originally issued by Delta — booked through reservation sales, a ticket office, on delta.com or on the Fly Delta app
  • Involuntary changes like cancellations, delays or schedule changes
  • Tickets issued with military or government fares
  • Customers completing a SkyMiles upgrade
  • Same-Day Confirmed Ticket Changes

THE $50 EXTERNAL TICKET HANDLING CHARGE IS:

  • Waived if the change can be completed here at delta.com
  • Applied for tickets changed through Reservations Sales
  • Applied for tickets changed at one of our Ticket Office Locations

Terms & Ticket Validity


During the ticket change process, we will apply your ticket’s remaining value to your new trip.

For travel between and/or within Canada, United States, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands, your ticket must be reissued and all travel completed within one year from the original date of purchase.

For all other travel, your ticket is valid for one year. If travel was started, your ticket must be reissued and all travel must be completed within one year of the start date. If travel was not started, your ticket must be reissued and travel must begin within one year of the original date of purchase.
