CHANGE OR CANCEL YOUR TRIP

Can I Cancel/Change My Flight Without Fees?

For customers with upcoming Basic Economy travel originating outside of North America, please review our 2021 Basic Economy Changeability Waiver to learn if you are eligible to make changes to your upcoming flight without a change fee.

Updated as of January 12, 2022

We understand that your plans may change, enjoy more peace of mind with no change fees when you purchase Main Cabin or above on flights originating from North America.

With no change fees, you have the flexibility to change the date, time or location of your trip prior to departure without a fee in My Trips. Sometimes, your new flight may cost more than your original flight. In this case you would need to pay the difference in price. Please note that Basic Economy tickets remain non-changeable and non-refundable unless the ticket qualifies for a Basic Economy flexibility waiver.

We know that there may be times where you need to cancel your trip and rebook at a later date. Please note that tickets not changed or canceled prior to departure will have no remaining value. The good news is that when you purchase Main Cabin and above tickets you will not be charged a fee for canceling your ticket, and your remaining value will become an eCredit that you can use at any time before your ticket expires* (typically one year from the date of purchase). Already have an eCredit and ready to book? Visit delta.com/redeem to book your future travel. If you need assistance with how to cancel or change your flight, visit our how-to guide.

*For additional flexibility, all tickets expiring in 2022 and all new tickets purchased in 2022 will be able to be rebooked through December 31, 2023 for travel now through 2024.

Tickets purchased directly from Delta, including Basic Economy fares, are included in our 24-Hour Risk-Free Cancellation policy. This means you have up to 24 hours after booking to cancel your ticket for any reason and receive a full refund with no change or cancellation fees. Basic Economy tickets purchased outside of existing waivers are non-changeable;* you may cancel your ticket before departure to receive an eCredit minus a cancellation charge and apply the remaining value towards a future Delta ticket.* Basic Economy Award Tickets are also non-changeable and non-refundable; you may cancel for a charge in miles which is deducted from the value of your ticket, and the remaining mileage balance will be redeposited into your SkyMiles account.
