Special Meals

Special meals are currently offered on our international flights and on most domestic routes for customers traveling in First Class.


We offer a variety of meals, like vegetarian, diabetic, low-sodium and low-cholesterol meals to comply with special dietary requirements on most flights that have scheduled meal service. Advanced notice is required. Not all special meals are available in all markets. At least 24 hours in advance, please request meals via MyTrips. Special Service Requests or call 1-800-221-1212 to make arrangements for your special meal.

Upon arrival at the departure gate, customers should advise the gate agent they have pre-ordered a special meal and also confirm with a flight attendant once on board.

When requesting special meals please note the following exceptions apply:

  • Special meal requests must be added for every new and/or changed reservation. This information is not stored and is not automatically added to your reservation when you add your SkyMiles account
  • When requesting a special meal on a Delta flight, please be sure to select a meal from Delta’s special meal listing as Delta does not fulfill meals that are not part of the special meal menu options
  • Special meals are not available on flights originating from El Paso (ELP), Albuquerque (ABQ), or Tucson (TUS). Special meal offerings may vary depending upon regional catering availabilities 
  • Kosher meals are not available on flights from Bogota (BOG), Cancun (CUN), Lima (LIM), Liberia (LIR), Montego Bay (MBJ), Mexico City (MEX), Panama City (PTY), Puerto Vallarta (PVR), Quito (UIO), Santo Domingo (SDQ), Cabo San Lucas (SJD), San Jose (SJO), San Juan (SJU), Shanghai (PVG), and Tahiti (PPT)


The meals follow dietary guidelines and include kid-friendly foods for children over the age of two.

This is a non-strict vegetarian meal, typically prepared Indian style, with limited use of dairy products. This meal does not contain meat, seafood, or egg.

Typically cooked in Western style, this meal does not contain meat, seafood, eggs, or dairy products.

This is a non-strict vegetarian meal which can include dairy products but eliminates all meats and seafood. Preparation and cooking style may vary.

This vegetarian meal typically prepared Indian style with limited use of dairy products. This is a meat free meal. Preparation and cooking style may vary.

All meals are Halal certified and do not contain pork, by-products of pork or alcohol. Preparation and cooking style may vary.

Kosher meals are prepared by kosher caterers under rabbinical supervision and may also incorporate fresh fruit or sealed items, such as individually packaged bagels that meet kosher laws. Special Kosher for Passover meals are supplied during Passover.

Menu items that could potentially cause gastric irritation will not be used in the preparation of these meals. Examples of foods excluded hot mustard, hot spices, pickles, garlic, fried and fatty foods.

Meals suitable for those who need to manage blood sugar levels. Foods excluded are high in sugars for example: syrups, jams, cakes and chocolate, unless specifically designed for diabetics.

Meals exclude gluten containing foods and ingredients sourced from wheat, barley and rye.

Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that these meals are 100% gluten free.

This meal is prepared with a reduced amount of fat, sugar, sodium and cholesterol.
