Copenhagen Activities

Enjoy the many parks and bicycle tracks, stroll around art galleries and museums, and take in an evening of jazz — all in the same place. Start your day with a leisurely bicycle ride around the city. Cruise through Christiania, an alternative community founded by hippies in the 1970s. Enjoy a delicious meal at one of many fabulous restaurants in the Meatpacking District. Later, stroll along the water, or sit at a waterfront cafe, and watch the sun set.

If you love art, there’s no better place to vacation than Copenhagen. Home to the famous Little Mermaid statue, the city also sits close to the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. Copenhagen’s architecture is artwork in its own right, from the beautiful wooden homes of Christiania to the lively, colored buildings looming over Nyhavn. You will find Waterfront Shopping just north of Copenhagen, in the former Tuborg Harbour in Hellerup, which offers a selection of stores with major brands and a variety of delicious cafes and restaurants.

Frederiksberg has plenty of shopping options with Værnedamsvej and the award-winning mall, Frederiksberg Centret, being at the center of it all.

Dining & Drinks

From Michelin-starred restaurants to innovative eateries to farm to table bistros, the food scene here is among the best in Europe. As a harbor city, Copenhagen has a great reputation for serving superb seafood like oysters, clams, lobster and more. For a truly Danish food experience, try the renowned smorrebrod (open faced sandwich). The Christianshavn and Holmen neighborhoods are known to have the best restaurants for sublime Nordic fare. Denmark’s capital city has an abundance of fantastic craft cocktail bars, breweries, wine pubs and nightclubs, with many open 24 hours.

Hotdogs, and the people who sell them, are adored in Denmark, and for good reason. Hotdogs are made from quality meat (from Hallegaard on Bornholm), with homemade toppings and hot, hot sauce.
