  • Yes. At any time after the ticket is issued until three hours prior to departure, customers can upgrade from Main Cabin to Delta Comfort+®, First Class or Delta One®, or from Delta Comfort+ to First Class or Delta One.  The upgrade is an add-on product and as such, it does not require ticket reissue. Customers may use a different method of payment than used for the original ticket purchase.

  • Post-purchase upgrade is available to customers from the time of ticketing, up until three hours prior to scheduled departure, subject to availability. Customers can go to My Trips and look for the First Class banner at the top of your trip or call Reservations to buy Delta Comfort +, First Class, or Delta One as an add-on.

  • Only itineraries that are wholly operated by Delta or Delta Connection are eligible for post-purchase upgrades at this time. Additionally, since Basic Economy tickets are not eligible for upgrade to another product, post-purchase upgrades for Basic Economy tickets are not available.

  • Not necessarily. Seat availability at the time of purchase factors into the current price available for an upgraded seat. Post-purchase upgrades may be the same as, or sometimes more expensive than, purchasing in the shopping path as a fare.

  • Customers, regardless of elite status, who purchase Basic Economy cannot upgrade to First Class.

  • All post purchase paid upgrades are nonrefundable and must be used as ticketed. No changes are permitted.  Failure to use the seat upgrades as ticketed will result in forfeiting the upgrade purchased.

  • Yes, First Class purchases (before and after ticketing) will earn Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs), Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) and applicable mileage accruals when a SkyMiles number is included in the purchase transaction.  Complimentary Upgrades to First Class will not earn additional MQDs or MQMs.

  • You may redeem an award ticket at time of ticketing if and where First Class is available.
