Supplier Development & Engagement

Delta Air Lines recognizes the important role that small businesses and businesses with socio-economic classifications* play in the strength of the U.S. economy. To deliver value to our customers, shareholders, employees, and the communities we serve, Delta seeks to engage qualified suppliers that demonstrate the capability to provide high-quality products and services.

*Socio-economic classifications refer to designations recognized under Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Part 19, which identifies categories of businesses based on size, ownership, control, and geographic or demographic attributes. These include Small Disadvantaged Businesses, Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Businesses, and HUBZone Small Businesses, among others.

Delta's Commitment

Our suppliers are strategic partners who help us compete in a global marketplace and enhance the experience of our customers, shareholders, employees, and communities.

We are committed to identifying and building relationships with high-quality suppliers, including small and socio-economic businesses, and we encourage our prime suppliers to do the same. Our success depends on strong, collaborative partnerships with qualified suppliers.

Code of Conduct

Delta Air Lines is committed to the highest standards of safety, customer service, ethical conduct, and environmental protection. Not only are our employees held to these standards, but Delta has established a Supplier Code of Conduct to set the standard of behavior for all suppliers doing business with us.

A Qualified Business demonstrates the capability, capacity, and commitment to deliver high-quality products and services in alignment with Delta’s operational standards. These suppliers are evaluated based on experience, performance, financial stability, and ability to meet contractual and regulatory requirements

Small Businesses

Suppliers considered “small” must meet the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) size standards as defined in the Code of Federal Regulations (Title 13, Chapter 1, Part 121). Suppliers must also provide appropriate documentation, such as certification from a federal, state, or local agency, or complete Delta’s self-certification process during registration in the Supplier Portal.

Qualified Businesses have an opportunity to partner with Delta in delivering value through quality products and services to our company and our customers. Suppliers are chosen first on their ability to meet the needs of our business. All suppliers must meet the following criteria:

  • Understanding of Delta’s business
  • Total cost of ownership
  • “Value-added” capabilities
  • Good financial standing
  • References and a proven track record
  • Ability to grow and partner with Delta
  • Core competency in supplier’s line of business

Delta is committed to promoting the meaningful utilization of Small and Socio-Economic Businesses across our supply chain. We actively encourage participation by these businesses and expect our prime suppliers to do the same.

Prime suppliers play an important role in extending opportunities by incorporating qualified Small and Socio-Economic Businesses into subcontracting and sourcing activities, where practicable.

This approach supports supplier engagement, strengthens partnerships, and expands economic opportunity in the communities we serve.
