Schedule Change Policy


We understand your time is valuable, and we do everything we can to provide you with a seamless, uninterrupted and stress-free trip. However, there are times when we may have to change our flight schedule. This may include changes to your arrival/departure time, changes or discontinuation of routes and changes to the aircraft, among other adjustments.
No matter the reason for a schedule change, we are committed to keeping your trip moving forward. That’s why we will bring you the information you need as it becomes available and offer you the flexibility to find a new path to your destination.
If You Have Been Impacted
If you have been impacted by a significant schedule change (greater than 120 minutes), we will email the current email address affiliated with your SkyMiles account or reservation. You can also choose to receive notice of a significant schedule change on delta.com via My Trips or in the Fly Delta app. In most cases we will update your trip itinerary with no action needed on your end, saving you time and allowing you to prepare for your travels as normal.
If the automatically updated itinerary does not fit your needs, you can refer to the email notification for more information on how to further manage your trip. You can also reschedule or cancel your flight by selecting ‘MODIFY A FLIGHT’ below. Keep in mind that some changes will require you to pay the difference in price from your original flight.
Offering You Flexibility
Managing a Canceled or Significantly Delayed Flight
In keeping with our policy, if we cannot find an alternative flight to accommodate you after a cancellation or significant delay, or if you choose to cancel the itinerary we have selected, you have two options:
- You may cancel your flight to receive an eCredit for the value of the unflown portion of your original ticket; or
- You may request a refund of the unflown portion of your ticket to your original form of payment.
When You Should Call
In the event of a schedule change, we will do our best to rebook you on a new flight. You will also have the ability to choose alternative options via My Trips or the Fly Delta app. However, there are specific circumstances in which you will need to contact us directly. Reach out to our Reservations Specialists or message us if:
- Your reservation includes an unaccompanied minor, or
- You have a booking with Delta Vacations.
If your ticket was purchased from a third-party travel site or agency and you need to make a change or cancellation, please refer directly to your travel agent for assistance.
