Coronavirus Travel Updates
Taking care of customers is at the center of everything we do. Even as we navigate these times of rapid change, our priority – you – remains the same. We know customers trying to contact us are experiencing extremely long wait times, and we continue to do everything possible to address your needs as we work through a solution. Our teams are currently focused on helping customers whose travel is scheduled within the next 72 hours. If your travel is further out, you may cancel or change your flight any time before your travel date using My Trips.
To allow additional flexibility in making travel changes, any Delta ticket expiring in March or April which was originally scheduled for travel in March or April is being extended to permit travel until December 31, 2020. Whenever your travel may be, rest assured that all changes will be processed and applicable credits will be issued; if you don’t take your flight, your ticket number automatically becomes an unused eCredit within 24 hours. We promise to work through these issues and sincerely appreciate your patience.

To help address customers with immediate travel needs, we are asking those who do not have travel in the next 72 hours to refrain from contacting us as we are experiencing high call volume. Thank you for your patience and partnership as we work through this unprecedented situation.
If your travel is within the next 72 hours, you can also call our Reservations team at 1 (800) 221-1212 to change your plans, if you need assistance beyond the Self-Service options described above.
If you are traveling soon and cannot get through on one of our service channels, rest assured, we will ensure all changes will be processed and applicable credits will be issued if you don't take your flight. Your ticket number becomes an unused eCredit within 24 hours and as long as the ticket stays unflown it can be used.
- If your SkyMiles number was in the reservation when you booked it, the tickets will appear in the list of eCredits in your account 24 hours or more after the scheduled travel date. You can find a list of your eCredits within My Wallet or by going to delta.com/redeem and logging in.
- If your reservation didn’t include a SkyMiles number at the time of booking, you will need your 13 digit ticket number beginning with 006. You can locate the ticket number on your emailed flight purchase receipt.
- Once you have located the 13 digital ticket number, enter it within the Certificate or eCredit # field on delta.com/redeem and click “Look Up”
- You will then be asked to enter the First and Last Name of the passenger then click “Add eCredit”
- After the eCredit is added, you can select the eCredit you would like to use and click “Continue” to apply it toward a new flight.
To allow additional flexibility in making travel changes, any Delta ticket expiring in March or April which was originally scheduled for travel in March or April is being extended to permit travel until December 31, 2020.
Tickets are valid for one year from the date of purchase, which is how you can determine your ticket’s expiration date. For SkyMiles members, log in to your SkyMiles Account and select My Wallet. Within My Wallet, select My Receipts. Tickets are displayed by purchase date.
If you don’t have a SkyMiles account, you can look up your ticket purchase date by going to delta.com/redeem and entering your ticket number.
We totally understand. You can cancel your flight and get an eCredit to use toward a future Delta flight. The value of the ticket(s) will be available to you as an eCredit. Follow the steps above when you are ready to book your travel.
We have teams working around the clock to reach out to these customers, so you should hear from us in the coming days. If you are traveling or need to accelerate your return flight to be in the next 72 hours, please visit My Trips.
Yes. With the evolving situation, our Reservations team is focused on addressing immediate travel needs for our customers. If this is not for immediate travel, we’d appreciate if you could visit My Trips or the Fly Delta app to make your changes.
As long as your ticket meets the waiver criteria (including travel dates in March or April 2020, or tickets purchased in March 2020), you should NOT see a change fee during the change/cancel process. The only time a change fee will appear is if the ticket doesn’t meet the waiver qualifications.
For tickets where we are permitting a one-time change without a fee, the fare for your new flight will apply. If the new fare is higher, we will collect the difference. If the new fare is lower, we will issue a Delta travel voucher for the difference (very limited exceptions apply).
The same rules apply whether a flight is booked with cash or miles. For award flights that qualify for a change fee waiver (including travel dates in March or April 2020, or tickets purchased in March 2020), we are also waiving the mile redeposit fee.
