MAZATLAN VACATION PACKAGES

Mazatlan International Airport (MZT)

Endowed with a shoreline sprinkled with beckoning islands, a lovely seaside promenade, miles of golden beaches and blue lagoons, Mazatlan really lives up to its moniker — Pearl of the Pacific. It is perfect for couples, friends and active families, tends to be less crowded, and has a laid-back charm all its own. The beaches are long, and the waves are big enough for surfing. Plus, the harbor is renowned for sport fishing. You’ll find that the Mazatlecos, as the locals call themselves, are fun, friendly and helpful.

See The Sights By Land, By Air & By Sea

This Mexican jewel sits just south of the Tropic of Cancer, and enjoys temperate semi-tropical weather year-round. With an average of 300 sunny days per year, it’s always beach weather here. But the very best time to go is undoubtedly during the month of February, when the 100-year-old, lively carnival has people partying and dancing in the streets. The Mazatlan carnival is also full of culture and traditions, and band music, popular throughout the north of the country, is heard all over the city.

In picturesque Old Mazatlan, life carries on as it did before tourists arrived in the markets, cafes, churches and shady plazas throughout the traditional neighborhoods. For a unique dining experience, try parrillada des mariscos, a selection of seafood grilled over flowing coals. Nightlife is abundant and lively in the modern district of Zona Dorada (Golden Zone). Developed in the 1960s, it boasts a large variety of restaurants, museums, major hotels, great shops, bars and restaurants scattered along the idyllic beaches.

For stunning views of the city and harbor, hike to the top of a rocky promontory, and tour the El Fargo Lighthouse. Explore colonial villages, such as El Quelite, a riverside village of red-roofed adobe houses or El Quemado, which features a quail farm, cheese factory and ornamental fish tanks. For shopping, plan a visit to La Noria, a community of handicraft workers who make leather belts, sandals, purses, saddles, clay pottery and exquisite furniture. This area is also home to the Vinata Santa Clara factory, the only distillery in the state of Sinaloa that produces mezcal.

The Mazatlan Aquarium is a perfect place to spend an afternoon with the family viewing 200+ species of marine life. Several islands in the bay make for lovely day excursions. The diving is wonderful at Isla de Vendaos, especially for beginners, while Isla Dos Hermanos offers excellent diving for the more experienced. Enjoy the aerial views of the tropical forest and a variety of wildlife on a canopy tour. Seek adventure by renting catamarans, snorkeling equipment and paddleboats. Mazatlan also boasts Mexico’s largest shrimp fleet, so visitors get first dibs before the rest of the world.
