Sydney International Airport (SYD)

Sydney’s laid-back outdoor lifestyle and alluring landscape make it one of the world’s top cities to visit. The stunning Sydney Harbour provides a dramatic backdrop for a city with a genuine sense of style and love of the great outdoors. The world-class city extends north and south of the Sydney Harbour in a golden chain of easy-to-reach beaches with plenty of shoreline restaurants and bars. The cultural life of the city encompasses the famed Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge, outstanding contemporary and colonial architecture, iconic beaches, a dynamic food scene and unforgettable outdoor experiences.

Have A G’day In The Land Down Under

Sydney is an excellent destination for endless adventure. For starters, try the Sydney Tower Skywalk for a panoramic, 360-degree view of the city. Then, step out onto glass platforms to feel like you're walking on air. Or check out BridgeClimb Sydney, which lets you climb Australia's most famous landmark, the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Sydney vacations are perfect for beach lovers. Just to name a few: Bondi Beach, Manly Beach, Mosman Bay, Palm Beach and Hyams Beach. These five stretches of glorious sand attract sun worshippers from across the globe.

For some family fun, spend time with native Australian wildlife at Sydney Wildlife World, including koalas and wallabies. Explore the Sydney Aquarium: walk 'underwater,' feed the fish in the Great Barrier Reef tank and more. Take the kids to the Tarongo Zoo, where they can see all kinds of animals from across the world, including red pandas and Asian elephants. Watch manta rays and fish of all colors from a plexiglass tunnel at the Sydney Aquarium. Head to the Powerhouse Museum, where kids can play and interact with exciting displays and exhibits. And that's just the beginning.

From glamorous wharf restaurants to trendy bar and grills, Sydney has a diverse and delicious dining scene. Dining precincts, such as Chippendale and Barangaroo, provide a chance to indulge in innovative and international cuisine. While “eat streets,” (Dixon Street in Chinatown and Church Street in Parramatta) celebrate the city’s multiculturalism in the many affordable cafes and restaurants.

For the best oysters on the planet, don’t miss a visit to one of the biggest seafood markets in the world — the Sydney Fish Market. And, nothing is better than an Aussie barbeque, where tasty Australian snags (beef or pork sausages) are served on a slice of bread covered in your favorite sauce. Top it all off with an Australian brew. Microbreweries are plentiful in the city, and just a two-hour drive north is Australia’s oldest wine region.

For shopaholics, Sydney has it all — from international labels and rising local designers to buzzing markets and discount outlets. For a unique shopping experience, hop aboard the Shopper Hopper — a ferry service that offers daily service between popular shopping districts along the harbor.

Plan Your Getaway

With Delta Vacations, you can enjoy a truly Australian experience. Book, bundle and save on your Sydney vacation package. Select from one of our luxurious hotels, and feel better knowing our team of dedicated experts has your back every step of the way.

Round-trip transfers between the airport and hotel are not included with your flight and hotel vacation package. Add a rental car to your Delta Vacations package, and also consider adding a tour, such as the Sydney Opera House Tour or Gourmet Wine Tour, or activity like a surf lesson.

Rental cars are available through Alamo for pickup at the airport or directly in the city. However, since congestion and traffic restrictions are prevalent, driving a rental car can be difficult, and isn't recommended, unless you plan to visit the outlying suburbs.
