MEDALLION PROGRAM FAQs

How Do I Earn Medallion Status?

Medallion Status is earned for U.S.-based Members through a combination of flying and spending with Delta and our partners each year. Progress towards achieving the flying requirements is measured by Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) and Medallion Qualification Segments (MQSs). Progress towards achieving the spending requirements is measured by Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs) and the MQD Waiver.

International-based Members only need to achieve the flying requirements to earn Medallion Status.

How Do I Earn MQMs?

MQMs are earned based on distance flown and your fare class.

How Do I Earn MQSs?

MQSs are earned based on the number of flights you take.

How Do I Earn MQDs?

MQDs are earned based on your annual spending on Delta flights and on many partner flights. In some tickets where the ticket price is not disclosed, MQDs are calculated based on a percentage of distance flown and fare class.

What is the MQD Waiver?

The MQDs requirement can be waived by achieving the MQD Waiver.

To reach Platinum, Gold or Silver Medallion Status, the MQD Waiver can be achieved by making $25,000 or more in Eligible Purchases during the calendar year with eligible Delta SkyMiles Credit Cards from American Express.

To reach Diamond Medallion Status, the MQD Waiver can be achieved by making $250,000 or more in Eligible Purchases during the calendar year with eligible Delta SkyMiles Credit Cards from American Express.
