Advancing Education

Junior Achievement

Through a partnership that now spans to over 30 Junior Achievement, opens in a new window chapters across four continents, Delta has helped ignite an educational spark in students through work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy programs. In Buenos Aires, Minneapolis-St. Paul and New York, for example, high school students spend time “job shadowing” Delta employees to learn what it takes to succeed in the business world. In Atlanta, Detroit, Los Angeles and Salt Lake City, students learn financial literacy and budgeting skills through Junior Achievement’s Finance Park programs.

Delta has partnered with the national non-profit KaBOOM! to build 28 playgrounds since 2013 — building in Atlanta, Cincinnati, Detroit, Indianapolis, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, Nashville, New York City, Raleigh, Salt Lake City, Seattle, and Washington, DC. More than 125 volunteers participate in each build to construct a playground in just one day, providing the gift of play to thousands of children across the U.S.

Whether learning to swim or attending after-school tutoring sessions, thousands of young people have benefited from Delta’s partnership with the YMCA in several countries. Delta sponsors 22 YMCA chapters in several countries.

Atlanta Public Schools (APS)

In 2017 Delta launched a five year partnership with Atlanta Public Schools (APS) to help improve the quality of education, specifically literacy, for the next generation of Delta employees and customers. Delta employees volunteer as Reading Buddies and Mentors at two APS Schools -Dobbs Elementary School and Hutchinson Elementary School, located near Delta’s world headquarters in Atlanta. Delta employees help host school events throughout the school year, in addition to providing coats and books for students and vision screening for eyeglasses to those in need. At Delta, we believe focusing on education is focusing on the future.

National Flight Academy (NFA)
