TRAVELING WITH US

A New Standard of Clean

Delta Clean

We’re setting a new standard of cleanliness, so you can enjoy more peace of mind when you’re ready to travel.

Your safety always comes first, which is why we’re incorporating these new, enhanced practices into our cleaning procedures from now on.

  • Fogging: In addition to all transoceanic flights, all domestic aircraft are now fogged overnight with high-grade, EPA-registered disinfectant. Beginning in May, we will also fog all aircraft in every station.
  • Air Filtration: Many Delta aircraft are equipped with state-of-the-art air filtration systems, blending fresh outside air that is sterilized with a high-temperature compressor and ozone purifier with existing cabin air that has been recirculated through an industrial-grade HEPA filter. HEPA air filters extract more than 99.999% of even the tiniest viruses, as small as 0.01 micrometers. Coronaviruses, which range from 0.08 to 0.16 micrometers in size, are filtered by the HEPA filter. Delta’s 717s use 100% fresh outside air.
  • Cleaning Checklist: We’re putting extra focus on cleaning high-traffic areas in the airport and on board. We are also committed to following an extensive cleaning checklist to ensure everything is “Delta Clean” before every flight, including ticket counters, gates, jet bridges, tray tables, seat-back entertainment screens, arm rests and seat-back pockets.

Changes to The Travel Experience

Food and Beverage Offerings

We’re making temporary changes to our onboard service and amenities to ensure the safety of our customers and employees while maintaining comforts you enjoy.

We’re paring down to essential onboard food and beverage options in an effort to reduce physical touch points between customers and employees. As always, you are welcome to bring your own food and refreshments on board to enjoy during flight.

Social Distancing at the Airport and on the Plane

We want to make it easier for you to practice social distancing during travel, so the following temporary changes will be implemented on all flights through June 30, 2020:

  • Reducing the total number of passengers per flight.
  • Blocking middle seats in Main Cabin, Delta Comfort+® and Delta Premium Select.
  • Pausing automatic, advance Medallion® Complimentary Upgrades and processing any available upgrades at the gate.
  • Modifying our boarding process to now board by row, starting from the rear of the aircraft to the front. If you are seated in Delta One ®, First Class or are a Diamond Medallion® Member, you are welcome to board at any point during the boarding process.

If you're looking for seating options directly next to travel companions and family members, please speak to an agent at the gate.

Delta Sky Club Updates

As coronavirus impacts travel plans for many of our guests, we are temporarily consolidating Club operations, discontinuing shower service, and scaling back our food and beverage offerings. Many of our partner and third-party lounges are experiencing these operational changes as well. We apologize for any inconvenience to our guests. Additionally, all Delta Sky Club Memberships with an expiration date of March 1, 2020, or later will receive an additional six months of complimentary membership.

Learn more about our temporary changes and which Clubs remain open.

Frequently Asked Questions

We encourage you to explore your options in  My Trips  if the scenarios below do not apply to your ticket. However, there are some tickets that cannot be changed online, these include:

  • A form of payment used includes SkyMiles Companion Certificates, a combination of cash and miles, or an upgrade using miles or certificates.
  •  An adult traveling with an infant in arms.
  • Tickets that are sold or ticketed by another airline. Generally, this means your flight number will start with something other than "DL", except for SkyMiles Award Travel operated by a Delta airline partner.

If you are ready to book your new trip now and don’t yet see your eCredit or have an issue booking on delta.com, please have your old ticket number ready when you call our Reservations team. Your ticket number is a 13-digit number beginning with 006. You can locate the ticket number on your emailed flight purchase receipt.

Nothing is more important to us and our partner airlines across the globe than your safety, and we are working closely to ensure the well-being of our customers and employees when you fly. The measures that Delta has in place are reflected across the airlines with the focus on providing booking flexibility, aircraft cleanliness and providing timely information.

Our nine global airline partners are working diligently with their respective government agencies, various national and international health and aviation authorities to monitor health and travel advice with regular updates on their websites as this situation evolves.

Feel free to direct message us on Twitter @Delta.

You can also call our Reservations team at 1 (800) 221-1212 to change your plans.

If you are traveling soon and cannot get through on one of our service channels, we will ensure all changes will be processed and applicable credits will be issued if you don't take your flight. If you missed your flight and your ticket is unused, your ticket becomes an eCredit within 24 hours.

  • If your SkyMiles number was in the reservation when you booked it, the tickets will appear in the list of eCredits in your account within 24 hours. You can find a list of your eCredits within My Wallet or by going to delta.com/redeem and logging in.
  • If your reservation didn’t include a SkyMiles number at the time of booking, you will need your 13-digit ticket number beginning with 006. You can locate the ticket number on your emailed flight purchase receipt.
  • Use the step-by-step guide to access and use your eCredit here.

In keeping with our longstanding policy, if Delta cancels or significantly delays a flight, you will first be rebooked on an alternate flight. If you choose to cancel your reservation, or if Delta cannot find an alternate flight and cancels the reservation for you, you will be issued an eCredit for the value of the ticket, which can be used toward future travel through September 30, 2022.

You may also request a refund back to your original form of payment if Delta cancels or significantly delays your flight (delays or schedule changes greater than 90 minutes). If your travel has been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, you can also change or cancel your travel without a change fee. If there is a difference in price, the fare difference will apply.

To allow additional flexibility in making travel changes, we’re extending any Delta ticket for travel March through September 30, 2020, booked before April 17, 2020, to permit travel until September 30, 2022.

We completely understand. You can cancel your flight and get an eCredit to use toward a future Delta flight. The value of the ticket(s) will be available to you as an eCredit. Follow our step-by-step guide to use your eCredit when you are ready to book your travel.

We have teams working around the clock to reach out to these customers, so you should hear from us in the coming days. If you are traveling or need to accelerate your return flight to be in the next 72 hours, please visit My Trips.

Yes, although a difference in ticket price applies. Your current ticket value will be applied toward your new ticket. If you choose to go to the same destination, and before September 30, 2020, we will waive the fare difference.

If this is not for immediate travel, please visit My Trips or the Fly Delta app to make your changes.

A change fee might appear while you select your new flights but don’t worry, the fee will be waived at checkout if your new selections meet the eligibility criteria.

We are working quickly to address a technical issue impacting our ability to show the updated expiration dates. We apologize for any inconvenience. Rest assured all applicable existing eCredits will be automatically extended to September 30, 2022.

The same rules apply whether a flight is booked with cash or miles. For award flights that qualify for a change fee waiver, we are also waiving the mile redeposit fee.
