Same-day Travel Changes

Our same-day travel options offer you greater flexibility on the day of your travel. We offer you a same-day confirmed travel option and same-day travel upgrades.

Diamond, Platinum and Gold Medallion® members receive Same-day Travel Benefits.

Same-day Confirmed Travel

The same-day confirmed option allows you to change your flight time on the same day of travel for a fee of $50. To use the same-day confirmed option, you must confirm your new flight within 3 hours of the scheduled departure time. If you have a flexible fare (usually a refundable ticket), you may be able to change your itinerary without a fee. The same-day confirmed program is subject to change and the rules in effect on the date of travel will apply, regardless of the date of ticket purchase. 

You can use the same-day confirmed option for travel within the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands on Delta and Delta Connection® flights.

Limitations

This option is limited to specific flight routing and connection changes. Not applicable on tickets containing any international flights or segments.

• You can change from a connection flight to a nonstop/direct flight.
• You will be booked in the same class of service you were originally ticketed.
• A $150 fee applies to restricted Delta Shuttle fares requiring changes outside of the SDC window.

If you are a Medallion member currently confirmed for an upgrade in V class, you will be rebooked in Economy class and need to request a an upgrade for your new flight.

The following are not permissible:

• No changes between origin, destination, or co-terminals (such as New York’s LaGuardia and JFK airports).
• No changes to routing for fares that are flight specific or require specific routing.

Service Charges

You can confirm your new flight for $50 within 3 hours of the departure time. If you are changing prior to 3 hours of the flight departure time, the standard rules of your fare will apply.

Example: If you are scheduled on a 9:00pm flight and would like to take a 7:00pm flight on the same day, you can request the same-day confirm option as early as 4:00pm. If you request a change prior to 3 hours of the flight departure time, the standard rules of your fare will apply.

Award Ticket Applicability

The same-day confirmed option is available for Award Tickets. However, these rules do not apply if you are using Medallion unlimited complimentary upgrades or other upgrade products.

Same-day Standby Upgrades

The same-day standby upgrade option allows you to upgrade your flight for a small fee, provided space is available and your ticket is eligible. Eligible tickets are those ticket booked in K-class (or higher). For travel to/from Hawaii only, eligible fares include those booked in L, U and T classes. This option applies to specific flights and routings:

• Within North America.
• To/from Aruba, Bermuda, Grand Cayman (Cayman Islands), Montego Bay (Jamaica), Nassau (Bahamas), Providenciales (Turks and Caicos), Los Cabos (Mexico), San Juan (Puerto Rico), and St. Thomas (US Virgin Islands)
• Between Atlanta and Costa Rica, St. Maarten and St. Lucia
• Between Cancun (Mexico)and Atlanta, Cincinnati, Detroit, Indianapolis, Memphis and Minneapolis
