Atlanta Airport Construction

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport is conducting federally-mandated construction at its North and South Terminal buildings to complete the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) baggage security screening construction project.

Construction Schedule

Construction will occur under the upper roadway in front of each terminal, and will be completed in phases:

• Phases I and II are now complete, providing a greatly-expanded curbside area for more convenient check-in.
• Phase III began May 5, 2005. Lanes closest to the terminal are now open for shuttle buses dropping off departing passengers. Outer lanes are closed.

Departing Passengers

Private vehicle traffic to the main terminal building for passenger drop-off continues to be rerouted through the south parking deck to a special "Kiss 'N Fly" drop-off area where curbside check-in is available. Delta passengers, arriving at the airport by car, are advised to add extra travel time due to potential traffic flow delays.

Hotel shuttle and car rental buses continue to drop off at the Ground Transportation Center located at the west end of the terminal. To better accommodate passengers using the Ground Transportation Center and those arriving on MARTA, we offer curbside check-in and an increased number of self-service kiosks. Both of these west side facilities will accept baggage check-in up to 45 minutes prior to your flight departure.

Arriving Passengers

Arriving passengers may be picked up in front of the baggage claim area.

Helpful Tips

• Allow extra travel time for traffic delays when driving to the airport.
• Pay close attention to signs. They are provided for your safety and convenience.
• Some walking distances will be longer due to rerouted walkways.
