First Checked Bag Free

Basic Cardmembers with a Gold, Platinum, or Reserve Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express may check their first bag for free on all Delta and Delta Connection® flights. The benefit applies to up to 9 people traveling in the eligible Cardmember’s reservation.

That�s a savings of up to $50 per person on a round-trip ticket or $200 for a family of four.

How does First Checked Bag Free work?

Provide your SkyMiles number when making your Delta or Delta Connection flight reservation
Check-in for your flight using any of the Delta check-in options. The waiver will automatically be applied for you and eligible passengers in your reservation
You can look up your itinerary to ensure that your SkyMiles number is in your reservation. If not, click Add Frequent Flyer #.
Earn double miles on Delta purchases when using your Delta SkyMiles Credit Card. You don�t have to pay for your ticket using your Delta SkyMiles Credit Card to receive the First Checked Bag Free benefit, but if you do, you�ll earn double miles!¹

Benefit is limited to Basic Cardmembers (not Additional Cardmembers) with the Gold, Platinum or Reserve Delta SkyMiles Credit Cards and is for U. S. Cardmembers only. Reservation must include the Basic Cardmember�s SkyMiles number. Fee waiver also available for passengers traveling in the same reservation as the Basic Cardmember. Maximum nine waivers per reservation. Waiver is only for normal first checked bag fee for a bag that is not overweight and not oversize under Delta�s applicable rules. Additional checked bags will be subject to the applicable baggage fees as outlined by Delta�s rules and the purchased fare. The first checked bag fee waiver will only be applied on flight segments which originate on a Delta or Delta Connection carrier operated flight. Codeshare flights are not eligible. New Cardmembers and Cardmembers upgrading from another Delta SkyMiles Credit Card product will be eligible for the checked baggage fee waiver benefit after receiving their card from American Express.
