When traveling within the United States, U.S. Virgin Islands, or Puerto Rico, customers are charged $15 for the first checked bag and $25 for the second checked bag (each way, for round trip). There is a $5 surcharge on each of the first two checked bags when checking in via ticket counter, kiosk, or curbside. There is no surcharge for bags prepaid during online check-in at delta.com.
Canada is now considered part of the U.S. area for baggage purposes and will be subject to the same fees.
Currently when traveling to or from most cities outside the United States you can check two bags, per passenger at no extra charge. For customers traveling between the U.S. or Canda and Europe customers in economy class will be charged $50 US (or the local equivalent currency) each way for the second checked bag.
There is a second bag fee applied to travel between U.S./Canada, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands to/from Bermuda and Latin America, which includes Mexico, Caribbean, Central and South America (except Brazil) of $25 if checked in on-line and $30 via the ticket counter, kiosk, or curbside (view the complete listing). With the exception of original factory-sealed boxes that will be accepted on a standby basis, we do not accept boxes as checked baggage to Central or South America (except Brazil, Mexico, and Chile) at any time of the year.
