Passenger Policies Updated: February 26, 2009 Some airports require different check-in times. To ensure that you or your clients are there on time review the Check-in Requirements section of delta.com and note the "check-in time exceptions" section. In addition, review the check-in option to determine which method of check-in best fits the needs of the customer. Here are a couple of other special check-in requirements: Delta Shuttle We offer flights between the following locations:
The Shuttle terminals serve our customers exclusively and are designed for fast and easy accessibility. We operate from the following terminals:

Reminder Coach
Choice Seats After introduction of the Coach Choice Seats (CCS) program and in response to feedback received from Delta's SkyMiles Medallion® members, effective November 18, 2008, we will return to having a single seating program - Preferred Seating Program. Although the CCS program was very popular among Delta's non-Medallion customers, retaining long-term loyalty and the commitment to offering our best seating options to Medallion® members is very important to us. Delta will review the opportunity to introduce a modified program that will again offer customers the option to purchase a CCS while ensuring Delta's SkyMiles Medallion® members continue to receive their Preferred Seating options. This impacts Delta's CCS program only; passengers booking on Northwest-operated flights will continue to be offered Coach Choice Seats for purchase. Same-day Travel Changes Our same-day
travel options offer your customers greater flexibility on the
day of travel. We offer a Platinum and Gold Medallion® members receive Same-day Travel Benefits. When booking reservations please include a home/business (primary) and down line (secondary) phone contact for your customers. Including both phone numbers will allow Delta to provide full and timely information to customers in the event of flight changes or disruptions. Many agency-booked reservations only include the agency phone number, making it impossible to contact your customers when itinerary changes occur due to irregular flight operations. Knowing which documents to bring with you and when to arrive at the airport will help to ensure a hassle-free trip. Passengers who are not able to produce the required identification will be denied boarding. Acceptable proof of identification includes one unexpired form of local or federal government-issued photo id. Within the United States, U.S. Virgin Island, and Puerto Rico:
For more information about the types of ID accepted at U.S. security checkpoints, see the Transportation Security Administration. Outside the United States Visit Visa & Passport Information to determine which documents you'll need to enter your destination country. International Dual Cabin Tax Levels United Kingdom and France have a dual tax rate for international business class or coach class travel. The tax rate is based on the cabin in which a guest is riding not the fare paid on the ticket. There is one rate for economy or coach class and a higher rate for business elite or upper class travel. The embarkation taxes apply for the cabin of service in which the guest is riding when exiting United Kingdom and France and not the fare that was paid. Therefore upgraded tickets need to pay the higher tax rate. For details regarding tax amounts please refer to your respective GDS pages. Effective March 1, 2008, we will discontinue the acceptance of unaccompanied minor (UMNR) passengers on flights that are not operated by Delta Air Lines, Delta Connection or Delta's Joint Venture partner, Air France. This includes all other interline, codeshare and SkyTeam partners. This change is necessary to provide consistent and improved service to our customers. We are proactively contacting affected customers and rebooking reservations accordingly. Highlights of the changes:
We are committed to providing detailed information to parents with children between the ages of 5 and 14 who will be traveling alone, including the child's itinerary and our policies and procedures. Our policies ensure the safety and well being of children traveling alone including:
For additional information on services for children and service charges please visit delta.com. Important Note: For flights operated by Delta's codeshare partners, please contact Delta as unaccompanied minor requirements may vary. You can assign exit seats to qualified passengers through your respective GDS. Per FAA regulations and to ensure the safety of all customers traveling on Delta, when assigning exit seats please review and adhere to the below criteria and guidelines. Passenger Qualifications When assigning an exit seat:
Exit-row passengers must be willing to perform these tasks if instructed to do so. Requesting Exit Seats Travel agents must request a specific exit seat number and add OSI EXIT DL to the PNR. An exit seat will not be assigned if a generic seat request is made, even if an OSI EXIT DL is present. For format information see:
When the end transaction takes place, an SSR seat and the OSI EXIT DL will be transmitted to Delta. Delta will respond with the confirmed exit seat, and then the Delta PNR locator is returned. The preferred seating ("P" seats) program is offered on Delta (excluding Delta Shuttle and Codeshare flights), ASA, Comair, SkyWest and Chautauqua aircraft and is designated only to qualified passengers. Qualified passengers include:
Preferred seats are shown on the seat map by a P indicator, following a row number. The SkyMiles number must appear in the PNR (OSI or SSRFQTV) and reflect FC, MM, PM, GM, or FO status. Note: Preferred seating is only available for passengers listed above. Circumvention of the seating program is subject to booking violation fees. All SkyTeam Elite and SkyTeam Elite Plus members have the benefit of requesting a preferred seat assignment when their reservation is booked. The preferred seat request should be entered as NN. The requestor will receive the response RS immediately provided the seat requested is available. Please do not request a preferred seat in an OSI entry when a DL-marketed flight is operated by a SkyTeam partner. Terms and Conditions
