Transatlantic/Transpacific Travel

International Travel
International travel includes transatlantic, transpacific, Bermuda, the Bahamas, and Mexico.

Application
Full amenities apply to:

  • All classes of international confirmed passengers whose travel is involuntarily interrupted in excess of 4 hours due to cancelled or delay.
  • Passengers paying standby fares 'cleared for boarding' on flight on which IRO occurs.
  • Domestic segments of international itineraries provided fares for segments are governed by DL-1 International Tariff.


Hotel
Delta will provide one night's lodging provided subject to maximum allowance for location.

Exception:
Does not apply to passenger whose trip is interrupted in city which is permanent domicile.

Does not apply if diversion and destination city is within any grouping below:
BWI/DCA/WI/DCA/IAD EWR/LGA/JFK
ORD/MDW OAK/SFO/SJC
FLL/MIA LAX/ONT

When such a diversion occurs, Delta with provide ground transportation to destination city.

Ground
Free ground transportation is provided from FTO to downtown or to/from local hotel.

Meals Application
Complimentary meals at appropriate hours are provided not to exceed 24 hours from delay or until passenger resumes travel, whichever occurs first.

BDA/Bahamas/Mexico Maximum Meal Allowance
Maximum authorized meal allowance for all cities is $7.00.

Communications
Passenger is allowed one 3-minute telephone call or one 15-word straight telegram to origin or destination between any two points in continental U.S., Canada, Bahamas, Bermuda, Mexico, or Puerto Rico. When travel involves points outside such area, Delta's tt network will be utilized to convey delay notification service.

Transatlantic/Transpacific Travel
For the purpose of amenities, a passenger's entire itinerary is considered transatlantic or transpacific from the point of origin to destination if any portion of that itinerary includes a transatlantic or transpacific flight segment (for example, TOL to ATL to LGW).

Application
Delta will provide certain services to passengers whose transportation via Delta has been involuntarily interrupted, for a period in excess of four hours. If the flight on which a passenger held confirmed reservations is cancelled, delayed, or interrupted, then the passenger, regardless of class of service on his reservation, will be offered the services provided below.

Note: The provisions of this rule will also apply to passengers paying standby fares for transportation on Delta provided such passengers have been cleared for boarding on the flight on which the schedule irregularity occurs.

Services for Eligible Passengers

  • Free ground transportation from the airport to the downtown area or to and from a local hotel, whichever is applicable.
  • Complimentary meal service at appropriate hours for a period not to exceed 24 hours from the time of flight interruption or until passenger resumes his/her trip, whichever occurs earlier.

Maximum authorized meal allowance for all cities is $7.00.

BDA/NAS and Mexico have now been included into the zoning for international areas. Rule NBR 95 in the DL-1 tariff governs the applications of amenities for these areas. This rule provides for full amenities including meals to passengers "first/business and tourist class". BDA/NAS and Mexico for the purpose of meal allowances will use the equivalent domestic USD amount guidelines.

Important Note: Full amenities will also apply to the domestic segments of transatlantic/transpacific and international "BDA/NAS/Mexico" itineraries providing that the fares for these segments are governed by the DL-1 international passenger rules and fares tariff.

Hotel accommodations for a period not to exceed twenty four hours and not in excess of the charge for one nights lodging.

The passenger will be allowed one three minute telephone call or one fifteen word straight telegram to the passengers point of origin or destination between any two points in the continental U.S. and Canada. When travel involves points outside the continental U.S. (or Canada) Delta's teletype networks will be utilized to provide delay notification service.

Note: Passengers whose trips are interrupted at a city which is also their permanent domicile are eligible for all services with the exception of hotel accommodations.
