Overview of Booking Policy and How to Avoid Booking Policy Violations
Both Delta and Northwest/KLM publish a Booking Policy to help
GDS users identify the most efficient ways to book and ticket
airline inventory. The GDS
Booking Policy also outlines activities
that are considered Booking Policy violations. These violations
result in unnecessary distribution costs and inventory spoilage.
The excess fees that result from these practices account
for a significant percentage of an airline’s overall
distribution costs. The policy helps offset unnecessary distribution
costs
and protects inventory for all of our mutual customers.
Delta and Northwest/KLM provide information on “How to
avoid Booking Policy violations” and a list of Frequently
Asked Questions as an additional reference for travel agents.
Travel agents can find a copy of Delta or Northwest/KLM’s
published GDS
Booking Policy and information on how to avoid
Booking Policy violations by visiting Delta’s Online Agency
Service Center (http://www.delta.com/travel-agency) or Northwest’s
agency website WorldAgent
Direct.
