SkyMiles/Frequent Flyer Ticketing Rules
An upgrade discount award ticket and boarding pass may only be issued if:
  • Certificate or coupon is collected from the person named on the certificate, and is the one traveling.
  • Required ticket designator is documented on ticket.
  • Ticket is plated on Delta.

Verify the following through direct access:

  • Fare allows upgrade, discount*, or buy 1 get 1 free award*.
  • Itinerary is valid and blackout dates are observed.

*Applicable for Frequent Flyer Program

ARC agents:

  • Domestic ticketing, treat as type A - discount certificate.
  • International ticketing, treat as type B - voucher.

BSP/IATA:

Complete ticket exchange in accordance with local BSP/IATA instructions.

Discount Award- Frequent Flyer Program
To book a discount award:

  1. Book the applicable class for the fare used.
  2. Enter the Frequent Flyer number using the FQTV entry. Example: 4SSRFQTVDLHK/DL0123456789 Smith/Robert.
  3. Enter the OSI DFF 25 percent, 50 percent, or 75 percent discount award, using the applicable percentage.
  4. Calculate the fare according to the discount rate.
  5. Store the applicable fare and append ticket designator: FF6 plus the two letter award code for all discounts except award code DA. For award code DA use FF7 (for example, F/FF7/DA).
  6. Set ticket time limit per fare rule.

Milage Upgrade
To book an upgrade:

  1. Book the applicable class for the fare used.
  2. Enter the Frequent Flyer number using the FQTV entry. For example, 4SSRFQTVDLHK/DL0123456789-Smith/Robert.
  3. Enter in OSI DFF upgrade certificate/fare basis code.
  4. End the transaction and redisplay PNR.
  5. Rebook G for first class, Z for business class.
  6. Store applicable fare and append ticket designator: use FF6 for the Frequent Flyer Program or F plus the two letter award code for the SkyMiles Upgrade Program - example: Y/FF6AG. Failure to adhere to policy results in debit memo.
  7. Set ticket time limit per fare rule.

Mileage Upgrade Award
The area of travel must be as specified on the award. The mileage upgrade award is valid only if the ticket reflects a Delta flight number and as follows:

AM, JM D412, D512

500-Mile Upgrade

One class 500-Mile Upgrades are a special benefit only available to a Medallion level SkyMiles member.

Normal booking procedures apply except as noted below:

  • Agency may only issue ticket for paid class of service
  • Cannot ticket against segment upgrade
  • Rebook V for first class, X for business/Business Elite®

The 500-Mile Upgrade is valid on the following code share carriers when equipment is operated by that carrier and the ticket reflects a Delta flight number: AM, and JM for travel within North America.

Preferred Seating Program
The preferred seating program is offered on:

  • All Delta-operated aircraft (excludes Delta Express and Delta Shuttle)

The preferred seating program is offered to:

  • Any passenger booked on Y/B fare
  • Million Milers
  • Elite SkyMiles members, including
    • Silver Medallion (FO)
    • Gold Medallion (GM)
    • Platinum Medallion (PM)

Preferred seats are shown on the seat map by a P indicator, following a row number. For example:

The Frequent Flyer number must appear in the PNR (OSI or SSRFQTV) and reflect FC, MM, PM, GM or FO status. Passengers booked Y/B do not need to be a Delta Frequent Flyer member.

Note:  An override entry is not required for Y passengers.
