Customer Care

The Customer Care Department addresses questions or comments from customers specifically relating to their travel experience with Delta Air Lines.

Transportation Credit
Occasionally, customers who have been inconvenienced will receive a Transportation Credit. A Transportation Credit is a discount credit voucher which can be used toward the purchase of Delta Air Lines transportation, or other travel related services. Travel related services include excess baggage charges, sky kennels, excess valuation charges, pet transportation charges, or Crown Room Club annual memberships. Vouchers may not be used toward cargo.

Fares Any published one-way or round-trip fare.  Not valid with cruise, tour fares or Delta Vacation Packages.
Form of payment No restriction
Minimum/Maximum Per fare rule
Prepaids Transportation credit can be used to prepay tickets
Refunds Refund of refundable ticket will be the amount paid by the passenger, less the fare amount for transportation used, plus any applicable penalty/ASC charge. Certificate is forfeited if the ticket is refunded.
Replaceable Voucher not replaced if lost/stolen
Residual value None. Voucher may not be used to purchase more than one ticket. MCO should not be issued for any remaining amount.
Transferable/Endorsable Voucher may only be presented by person named on voucher. Must ticket at Delta/Delta Connection ticketing location. At time of ticketing the voucher holder may specify that the ticket be issued in another persons name. Once the ticket is issued, ticket is non-transferable. If the person named on the voucher is deceased, the voucher can be transferred, with a copy of the death certificate as directed by the Executor of the will. If there is no will, it can be transferred to the spouse.
Travel agencies Vouchers must be presented by passenger named on the voucher. Agency can ticket only for passenger named on the voucher. (Certificate will state: Ticketing by Delta or Authorized Travel Agency.)
Validity Valid for one (1) year from date of issue. Ticket issued against voucher is valid for one (1) year from the date the ticket was issued.

Below is the text that is sent to the customer when Customer Care sends the customer a Transportation Certificate:

This transportation credit is valid up to the amount indicated toward the purchase of a ticket on Delta Air Lines subject to the following terms and conditions:

Terms and Conditions

  1. This order is redeemable at any Delta ticket office or authorized travel agency in connection with the purchase of a ticket on Delta Air Lines only.
  2. This order is non-transferable and is valid for one year from the date of issue.  Any unused portion is non-refundable.
  3. Any transportation covered by this order is subject to currently effective tariff conditions of carriage rules and regulations of Delta Air Lines, Inc.
  4. In the event of loss, this order cannot be replaced.

Countries Outside the U.S. and Canada

The Customer Care department in London handles the following markets:

  • UK
  • Germany
  • France
  • Italy
  • Belgium
  • Ireland
  • Austria
  • Switzerland
  • Spain
  • Netherlands

All other countries are handled by local the local Marketing office. All baggage claims are handled by the local airport or by Corporate Customer Care in Atlanta, GA.
