What to Expect: Former WorldPerks Members

Given the significant challenges in integrating two programs with very different and complex technology platforms, select program changes are in effect as of October 1.

Elite Benefits:

• Complimentary upgrades on Award Tickets will be unavailable until spring 2010 when it will be implemented as part of the SkyMiles Medallion program.
• Unlimited complimentary upgrades will now be offered for one companion traveling with an elite member. This upgrade is eligible to clear within 12 hours prior to departure if available.
• Complimentary Elite upgrades on Alaska Airlines flights will be temporarily discontinued and will be reinstated in 2010 after the full airline integration is complete.
• Complimentary Elite upgrades on Continental are no longer available.
• Previously issued WorldPerks Platinum Elite upgrades are still valid and can only be redeemed with a Reservation agent.
• Any new SkyMiles Platinum Medallion Systemwide Upgrades are only eligible on Delta and Northwest flights although we are looking to expand this option in the near future.

Award Redemptions:

• The PerkChoice redemption program has been discontinued; however, a similar Pay with Miles* program for eligible Delta SkyMiles American Express Cardmembers is available to purchase tickets with a combination of miles and money.
• The policies pertaining to Award Ticketing and the processing of mileage and Systemwide Upgrades will continue to be based on the airline that is issuing the ticket (e.g. SkyMiles policies for Delta Award Tickets and WorldPerks policies for Northwest Award Tickets).
• WorldPerks Award Tickets or mileage upgrade Awards issued on or before September 30, 2009 that need to be reissued or changed must be done with a reservation agent.

*Only SkyMiles members recognized as having an active Gold, Platinum, or Reserve Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express with a U.S. point of sale address in their SkyMiles account are eligible.

Airline Partners:

• Effective October 1, SkyMiles programs rules apply when earning and redeeming miles with airline partners.
• Capacity-free Awards on KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, Alaska Airlines, and Hawaiian Airlines are temporarily unavailable for new bookings and will be introduced for SkyMiles members once technology permits.
• Any WorldPerks Award Ticket issued on a partner airline prior to October 1 that needs to be reissued or changed must be done with a reservation agent.
