The Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express is the official co-brand credit card in the United States. American Express will continue to be the co-brand credit card partner for the current and integrated SkyMiles program in the United States.

WorldPerks & SkyMiles program alignment begins.
- Continental Airlines® announces it's leaving the SkyTeam® alliance in October 2009. SkyMiles and WorldPerks members can continue to redeem miles for Continental Award Tickets until further notice.
- SkyMiles members can earn Medallion status via segment qualification.
WorldPerks program changes include:
- Award fee alignment to Delta and competitive industry levels.
- Saturday night stay requirement removed from Award Tickets.
- WorldPerks Platinum Elite members receive six Systemwide Upgrades Certificates.
- WorldPerks members may now book Award Travel on Northwest-operated flights at low, medium, and high mileage Awards in Economy Class.
Interesting fact: Delta has offered Platinum Medallion upgrade certificates since 1997 and Northwest has had a Saturday night stay requirement for Award Tickets since 1999.

All members enjoy mileage upgrade reciprocity. Platinum Elite/Platinum Medallion members receive Systemwide Upgrade reciprocity.
Effective March 1, 2009:
- WorldPerks Platinum Elite members and SkyMiles Platinum Medallion members receive two reissue and redeposit fee waivers and pay $50 for every other instance.
- Similar to SkyMiles members, WorldPerks members now earn an incremental 50 percent mileage bonus when booked in Y, B and M Economy fare classes.
- SkyMiles program removes Saturday night stay requirement for booking Northwest Award Tickets.

Delta SkyMiles Credit Cardmembers in the United States receive more benefits.
For Gold and Platinum Delta SkyMiles and Delta Reserve Credit Cardmembers:
- Use Pay with Miles on Northwest-operated flights.
- If you redeem a companion certificate over the phone your $20 direct ticketing fee is waived, effective March 26, 2009.
- Companion certificates issued after April 20, 2009 can be redeemed online.
For Platinum Delta SkyMiles and Delta Reserve Credit Cardmembers:
- If you redeem an Award Ticket less than 21 days prior to departure your award ticket redemption fees are waived.
- If you redeem an Award Ticket on a partner airline, partner airline Award handling fees are waived. For SkyMiles Platinum Medallions, unlimited partner airline Award handling fee waiver.

Starting at just $20, the SunTrust SkyMiles Check Card features the lowest annual fees of any competing airline check card rewards program and offers the convenience and security of a SunTrust Visa Check Card. Three cards are available – two for consumers and one for small- to medium-sized businesses:
- SkyMiles Classic Check Card - consumers earn one mile for every $2 purchased and 2,500 bonus miles for the first signature purchase. The annual Card fee is $20.
- SkyMiles Platinum Check Card - consumers earn one mile for every $1 purchased, 5,000 bonus miles for the first signature purchase and a complimentary Delta Sky Club one-day pass valued at $50. The annual Card fee is $55.
- SkyMiles Business Check Card - businesses earn one mile for every $1 purchased, 5,000 bonus miles for the first signature purchase and a complimentary Delta Sky Club one-day pass valued at $50. The annual Card fee is $55.

In preparation for the upcoming integration of the WorldPerks and SkyMiles programs, the Account Linking and Mileage Transfer tool will no longer operate after August 31, 2009.
The last day to transfer miles between your linked accounts will be August 31, 2009.

Communicate final and complete details regarding the integration of the WorldPerks program into the SkyMiles program.
WorldPerks members will receive email communication regarding the upcoming integration of WorldPerks into SkyMiles.

WorldPerks members who did not link their account with a SkyMiles account will receive a new SkyMiles number and welcome package in October, and all account information will be transferred to this new account.
WorldPerks members who linked accounts will receive emails about the merging of their accounts, which will take place in two phases in early October. Account balances and status will be consolidated first, with history taking longer. You will receive updated SkyMiles credentials if your Medallion status changes.
We will send new SkyMiles numbers to Elite WorldPerks members first, then to general members.
