Here's where you can learn about the latest updates to the Medallion program.
SkyMiles members who recently qualified for Medallion status can expect to receive their new Medallion credentials in late February 2010. Even though members will not receive new credentials until then, their status is recognized which means they can begin to enjoy their Medallion benefits. Medallion credentials include a new membership card and bag tags. Medallion members who earned Diamond Medallion status in 2009 will receive new Diamond Medallion credentials in late February, 2010 as well.
Our new Rollover Medallion Qualification Miles process will begin in January, 2010. Any eligible MQMs will be rolled over into your account in mid-January. Diamond Medallion members who earned over 125,000 MQMs in 2009 will roll over what was earned above the 125,000 threshold.
New benefits for the 2010 Medallion program, including the Diamond Medallion tier, will begin March 1, 2010.
The Northwest Airlines® WorldPerks program officially merged into the Delta Air Lines SkyMiles program. SkyMiles is now the sole loyalty program for both Delta and Northwest even though the two airlines will continue to operate separately until the merger is fully complete in early 2010. It's business as usual for SkyMiles members, who will experience very little change with this program integration. All former WorldPerks members are now SkyMiles members and have a 10-digit SkyMiles account number, which they should use going forward. Please visit delta.com/what2expect for more information.
Effective October 1, 2009 Platinum Medallion and Gold Medallion members will no longer be charged the Direct Ticketing Charge when purchasing tickets or redeeming a travel award.
Platinum Medallion® members can now redeem their System-wide upgrade on Northwest Airlines® operated flights. Members should continue to contact Delta for their upgrade request.
Effective March 1, 2009, the Award Ticket reissue and redeposit fee for Platinum Medallion members will be waived for two different reservations per year. Platinum Medallion members will be charged $50 for any additional Award Ticket changes. The 50% Medallion Qualification Mileage and base mileage bonus in Y, B and M booking classes will remain in 2009.
In early February, all members will be able to link and transfer miles between their SkyMiles and WorldPerks accounts.
First and second bag fees based on date of ticket purchase and itinerary. Please visit our Baggage Allowance page for the latest information, along with size and weight restrictions.
All customers flying in First or Business Class, including SkyMiles Medallion members and WorldPerks Elite members, will receive up to three checked bags, up to 70 pounds each, for free.
SkyMiles Medallion members and WorldPerks Elite members flying in Coach Class will receive up to two checked bags, up to 70 pounds each, for free. U. S. Military personnel on active duty with travel orders will continue to be able to check up to 10 pieces of luggage on Delta- and Northwest-operated flights.
We’re excited to announce that SkyTeam partner Northwest Airlines is now a part of Delta.
