Your system wide upgrade certificates are automatically mailed to you in your credentials package when you qualify for Platinum Medallion status. Platinum Medallion Upgrades are valid for:
Confirm upgrade at time of booking for Y, B, M, H, Q, K (domestic U.S.) and Y, B, M (international) fare classes. Platinum Medallion Upgrades can be used by the Medallion member or by a travel companion when traveling in the same cabin as the Medallion member. Platinum Medallion Upgrades are capacity controlled and subject to availability. See the back of your Platinum Medallion Upgrade certificate for additional terms and conditions. SkyMiles members should continue to contact Delta to request their Platinum system-wide upgrade for either Delta or Northwest flights.
Platinum Medallion members automatically receive SkyTeam® Elite Plus status when traveling internationally on any SkyTeam partners. This means that you have access to Delta’s international Delta Sky Club™ network as well as to the lounges of our SkyTeam partners, regardless of the class of service you are traveling in. Present your same-day international ticket and Platinum Medallion membership card upon check-in at the applicable participating lounge in your city of travel for a complimentary one-day invitation. Regardless of Medallion status, all passengers traveling on a same-day international BusinessElite® ticket may have access to any of the Delta Sky Clubs, Delta BusinessElite lounges or applicable international partner lounges. Please note that lounge access is based on availability and not all international partners participate.
With your busy travel schedule, you don't have time to wait for your baggage. That's why we offer Platinum Medallion members priority baggage handling on international flights six hours or more in duration. When you travel on any Delta-operated or SkyTeam partner flight worldwide your bags are among the first off the aircraft. When you check in at the airport for an applicable flight, your bag tags will automatically print out with Priority printed on them.
1Upgrades are capacity controlled. Delta reserves some Business Class and/or First Class seats until shortly before flight time for passengers paying Business Class or First Class fares. If a confirmed upgrade is not available when requested, you may be placed on the airport standby list no later than 45 minutes prior to departure. Please note that airport standby is not permitted for travel between Asia, Central America, Europe, India, North America and South America. In order to avoid flight delays, we cannot provide upgrades less than 45 minutes prior to scheduled departure or onboard the aircraft. Therefore, we may not be able to accommodate your upgrade request even if there are last-minute cancellations that cause empty seats. Additionally, we reserve the right to limit the number of upgrades available for purchase.
