Pay with Miles

Another way to use your miles! You can choose to pay for eligible flights with miles, money, or a combination of both:
  • Exclusively for SkyMiles® members with a Gold, Platinum, or Reserve Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express
  • No blackout dates or inventory restrictions, just look for flights marked as Pay with Miles eligible
  • Pay with Miles is flexible. Pay for all or part of the fare with miles — it's up to you

Medallion Qualification Calculation

Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) are used as a counter to determine SkyMiles Medallion status. MQMs can be earned through flight activity, or SkyMiles partner activity. Medallion status can also be earned through the total number of segments flown. All paid fare cases eligible to earn MQMs count towards Qualification Segments:

  • 25,000 MQMs or 30 Qualification Segments achieves Silver Medallion status.
  • 50,000 MQMs or 60 Qualification Segments achieves Gold Medallion status.
  • 75,000 MQMs or 100 Qualification Segments achieves Platinum Medallion status.
  • 125,000 MQMs or 140 Qualification Segments achieves Diamond Medallion status.

The qualification time frame for Medallion status is determined annually from January 1 to December 31.

MQMs earned through flight activity are calculated based on distance traveled and fare class purchased on Delta, Delta Connection®, Delta Shuttle®, SkyTeam partners, Alaska Airlines and Virgin Australia International. Qualification Segments are earned through flight activity on Delta, Delta Connection, Delta Shuttle, SkyTeam partners, Alaska Airlines and Virgin Australia International. Each airline calculates elite status qualification differently. SkyMiles members do not earn MQMs or Qualification Segments on Hawaiian Airlines.

Earning mileage toward Award Travel remains the same, regardless of fare purchased.
