Visa rules can be pretty tricky. What's more, they can change. Use this tool to find out which travel documents you'll need to enter the countries you're visiting, or to get back into the country where you started.
As of January 23, 2007 passports are required for travel between the United States and Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean (except for travel to or from U.S. territories by U.S. citizens), and Bermuda.
For details, see the U.S. Department of State's Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative information.
Check the travel documents you will need to re-enter the U.S. below. For example, if you are traveling from the U.S. to Canada, select "United States" in the Destination country box.
If you're traveling to the U.S. with a passport from a Visa Waiver Program country, you need to obtain travel authorization online through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) when booking your flight or at least 72 hours prior to departure or you will be denied boarding by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
