Visa/Passport Requirements

Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative

Passports are now required for travel between the U.S. and Canada, Bermuda, and Mexico.

Exceptions are no longer being made for those who have applied for their passport but haven't received it. Make sure you have your passport with you for your international check-in to travel within the areas listed above.

Visa Waiver Program

Traveling to the United States? Effective January 12, 2009 the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) requires travelers to submit an online request for travel authorization via the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) prior to boarding a carrier to travel by air or sea to the United States.

This is being done to allow visitors from participating countries to get speedy approval for travel to the U. S. for business or pleasure for 90 days or less without first obtaining a visa. For more information you can visit the VWP website or download a fact sheet about the program.

I–94 Form Information

Arrival/Departure Record for Nonimmigrant Visitors with a Visa for the U.S.

You don't need to worry about getting this form ahead of time—it will be distributed by your flight attendants during your flight. The I-94 form must be completed by everyone except:

• U.S. citizens
• Returning resident aliens
• Aliens with immigrant visas
• Canadian citizens visiting or in transit
• People who have completed an I-94W

U.S. Customs Information

Before arriving for international check-in, each traveler or head of family needs to provide information about any goods and gifts they have acquired while they were traveling abroad. Visit the U.S. Customs & Border protection Web site to find out more about U.S. customs requirements.
