Below are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about SkyMiles Incentives—Buy Miles for Your Customers and Employees. If your question or comment has not been addressed, feel free to e-mail us.
The Delta SkyMiles Incentives program allows companies and organizations to give customers and employees SkyMiles as rewards and incentives. Miles can be purchased in the form of SkyMiles Incentives paper certificates or online electronic miles, which may then be issued at SkyMiles Incentives.
No. The SkyMiles Incentives program allows companies and organizations to give customers and employees SkyMiles as rewards and incentives. Miles are available toward the redemption of normal travel, SkyMiles Awards for a current itinerary, or SkyMiles Awards for a future itinerary. However, in both programs, purchased miles do not count toward qualification for any Medallion or Million Miler status.

The price per mile is $0.022 USD plus a 7.5% Federal Excise Tax and a $75 USD processing fee for the first purchase. An additional 7% GST applies to purchases made by Canadian residents. The minimum order is $1,494 USD (60,000 miles), including the tax and one-time fee.
There are four ways to notify someone of their reward:
(1) E-Card - Choose from our selection of e-cards, provide the recipient’s e-mail address, and type a personal message. We’ll send the e-card to notify them of the gift from your company. The e-card will include a unique claim code and instructions on how to easily claim the miles.
(2) Simple E-mail - Provide the recipients’ e-mail address/es and we’ll send an e-mail telling them of the gift from your company. You may choose to include a personal message. The e-mail will include a unique claim code and instructions on how to easily claim the miles.
(3) Paper Certificates - Order paper certificates in almost any denomination. A processing fee of $50 USD is charged for each paper certificate order. The certificates are customized with your company (or promotion) name and will include a unique certificate code and instructions on how to easily claim the miles. One order may include several mile denominations between 250 and 15,000 miles. (Customized denominations above 50 miles may be ordered at an additional charge of $0.10 USD per certificate.) The certificates will arrive within four business days.
(4) Account Deposit - You can collect the SkyMiles numbers or e-mail addresses of the people you’d like to reward and use SkyMiles Incentives—Buy Miles to have the miles deposited directly into the recipients’ accounts.
Each notification method will include a unique claim code and instructions on how to easily claim the miles.
Yes. Electronic miles must be deposited into a valid SkyMiles account prior to the expiration date (two years from purchase). Mileage paper certificates must be deposited into a valid SkyMiles account prior to the expiration date printed on the face of the certificates (two years from the date of issue). Miles that expire prior to being awarded are automatically rendered invalid and are not renewable, not exchangeable, not refundable, not extendable, and not endorsable.
Yes. These miles are purchased to be given away in contrast to the miles you earn when you fly; and the miles purchased in SkyMiles Incentives DO NOT count toward qualification for any Medallion or Million Miler status. However, these miles are redeemable for Award Travel, upgrades, and non-travel benefits (see the SkyMiles Membership Guide & Program Rules for details).
Complete the application. You will be notified of the status of your application within 5 business days.
The sale of miles to certain companies within select industries may be inconsistent with the terms of some of Delta's existing marketing contracts. When applications from these companies are received, Delta may decline the sale.
All notification methods provide a special claim code for redemption and instructions on how to easily enroll in the SkyMiles program if the recipient is not already a member.
There is no minimum amount of miles that you can award to customers or employees; however, the smallest denomination of paper certificates is 50 miles. You may award a maximum of 50,000 miles per SkyMiles account per calendar year.
If your company awards an individual more than the 50,000-mile maximum per member in one calendar year, the miles in excess of 50,000 will be stored for future redemption. The recipient will receive an e-mail notification explaining that they may wait until the next calendar year to claim their miles or they may give the miles to another SkyMiles member.
No. Miles received through the Buy Miles for You or Buy Miles for Family and Friends products do not count toward the 50,000-mile cap. Only miles awarded by your company through SkyMiles Incentives count toward this cap. Please see Buy Miles (Gift) FAQs or Buy Miles (Personal) FAQs for more information on these programs.
Yes. Miles may be purchased at SkyMiles Incentives worldwide by any qualifying company. However, paying by credit card is only available to companies having a billing address in the 50 United States, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico, or the Virgin Islands. No Post Office Boxes are accepted for certificate shipments. The 7.5% Federal Excise Tax also applies to foreign purchasers. An additional 7% GST applies to purchases made by Canadian residents.
You may use any credit card from American Express (including the Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express), Visa, MasterCard, Diners Club, and Discover® Network that has a billing address in the 50 United States, Canada, Guam, Puerto Rico, or the Virgin Islands.
Yes. And as with all Delta purchases, you will earn two miles for every dollar you spend when you purchase miles with your Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express. For example, if you charge $1,419 USD to your SkyMiles Credit Card to purchase 60,000 miles, American Express will post an additional 2,838 ($1,419 x 2) miles to your SkyMiles account.
No. Once you have purchased Delta miles through SkyMiles Incentives, your purchase cannot be refunded.
If you purchase with a credit card, your miles are available for electronic distribution immediately. If you pay with a check, we will e-mail you when your check has been processed and let you know that your miles are available for distribution. If you choose to distribute miles via paper certificates, the paper certificates you ordered will arrive in 3–4 business days.
No. Lost or stolen certificates will not be replaced. The certificate and its unique redemption code may only be redeemed once and has no cash or refund value. Certificates will be deemed fully used once mileage has been credited to the indicated SkyMiles account. Once surrendered, paper certificates may not be recovered, regained, or reissued.
If you choose to notify your recipient electronically (e-mail or e-card) the notification will be sent shortly after your purchase and will include instructions on claiming the miles online. The miles should post 24–48 hours after the recipient claims them.
If you provide the recipient’s SkyMiles number when distributing miles at SkyMiles Incentives, the miles should post 24–48 hours after that time.
If you award the miles with paper certificates, the certificates include instructions on claiming the miles on delta.com or through the US mail. Redemption through the US mail could take 6–8 weeks for the miles to post.
Yes. Your company's participation in the SkyMiles program and your purchase of miles through the SkyMiles Incentives program is subject to the terms of Delta SkyMiles Purchase Agreement; and all orders are subject to Delta Air Lines approval.
No refunds will be given for miles purchased. By submitting the order form you: (1) authorize Delta Air Lines to charge this purchase on your credit card (if paying by credit card) as indicated; and (2) acknowledge you have read the Delta SkyMiles Purchase Agreement and that you accept and will be bound by the terms thereof.
Yes. However, all materials must be submitted to Delta SkyMiles Incentives—Buy Miles for prior approval. Complete instructions for downloading Delta logos and submitting materials for approval can be found on the SkyMiles Incentives administration site once you become a member.
No. SkyMiles Incentives paper certificates and electronic certificate miles will be void if sold or bartered.
Yes. First, visit SkyMiles Incentives and apply for a new account. Once you have received the e-mail notifying you of acceptance into the program, please forward that e-mail to Delta and provide the following information about your old SkyMiles Incentives account:
(a) Customer Code
(b) Order Number
(c) Mileage Balance (if you know it)
The miles in your old account will be transferred to your new account within three weeks.
Yes. You may award yourself up to 50,000 miles per calendar year.
If you forget your administrator password, go to Forgot Your Password. This will display the password hint you selected when signing up for SkyMiles Incentives. If you still cannot remember your password, e-mail us and the password will be e-mailed to the e-mail address listed in your Administrator Information.
Your order is protected in accordance with our Security Policy.
Your personal information is treated confidentially in accordance with Delta's Privacy Policy.
