If you qualified for Diamond, Platinum, or Gold Medallion 2010 status before December 31, 2009, your Medallion credentials will arrive in late February; if you earned Silver Medallion 2010 status before December 31, 2009, you can expect to receive your credentials in early March. In the meantime your 2010 Medallion status will be recognized in our system effective March 1.
Delta Sky Club membership cards will arrive after your Diamond Medallion credentials. However, you do not need your membership card to access a Club. Your Club membership will be recognized upon scanning your Diamond Medallion membership card or boarding pass.
Diamond Medallion status officially launches on March 1, 2010.
Complimentary upgrades on Award Tickets will launch later this year.
Existing Delta Sky Club memberships will not be refunded. However, any months remaining on your current membership past the March 1 Diamond Medallion start date will be applied once your Diamond Medallion status lapses. Therefore, you will not lose any months of Club access.
There are no specific changes for general members at this time, as they will continue to enjoy the same benefits as they do today in 2010. General members will also continue to receive no co-pays on mileage upgrades, a 500-mile minimum on all flights, a 50 percent mileage and MQM bonus on premium Economy fares, and will be able to earn and redeem miles on the world's largest carrier, which serves nearly 400 destinations in more than 65 countries on six continents.
Silver Medallion members will continue to enjoy all existing program benefits including waived baggage fees for everyone in their itinerary. In addition, we introduced "Rollover Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs)," an industry-first feature that rolled over any MQMs above a Medallion threshold. For example, if you earned 40,000 MQMs in 2009 – 15,000 MQMs higher than the Silver Medallion requirement – those 15,000 MQMs were rolled over into your 2010 MQM balance.
As long as you earn or redeem at least one mile every 24 months your entire mileage balance will never expire. Miles will only expire if 24 consecutive months pass without earning or redeeming a mile in a SkyMiles account.
No, this program will continue to be offered to all Delta passengers. The change fee will be waived for Gold, Platinum and Diamond Medallions.
No. Only MQMs and Elite Qualification Miles will be rolled over.
No. Any MQMs earned above a Medallion level will be rolled over.
No, only MQMs earned over and above an earned Medallion status can be rolled over. If you do not earn at least 25,000 MQMs then you do not qualify for Rollover MQMs.
| Example | MQMs Earned | Medallion Level Reached | MQMs That Will Roll Over |
|---|---|---|---|
| Member A | 15,000 | None. 25,000 is the lowest Medallion level. | None; Did not reach lowest Medallion level |
| Member B | 26,000 | 25,000 | 1,000 |
| Member C | 73,000 | 50,000 | 23,000 |
| Member D | 200,000 | 125,000 | 75,000 |
No, members who already have lifetime Delta Sky Club membership will continue to enjoy this benefit but will not receive an additional choice benefit.
Diamond Medallion members will be given complimentary Delta Sky Club membership that will remain valid as long as they are a Diamond Medallion.
Diamond Medallion members booked in discounted fare classes will clear for upgrades 5 days out and will always clear before Platinum Medallion members booked in discounted fare classes.
No, the reissue fee will only be waived for Award Tickets.
No, Diamond Medallion members will have unlimited waivers for the reissue and redeposit fees on Award Tickets.
Effective March 1, 2010, customers reaching Platinum status and Diamond status in the same year will be able to choose 1 benefit when reaching the Platinum level and 2 additional when hitting the Diamond level.
You can select your Choice Benefit(s) in late February when your Medallion credentials arrive. Your credentials will direct you online to make your selection. Moving forward, whenever you reach a new Platinum or Diamond Medallion threshold, you will receive an email indicating your new status and directing you online to select your Choice Benefit(s). Please ensure your profile includes your updated email address so you can promptly take advantage of your benefits.

No. If your recipient already has the status you are attempting to gift (i.e. Silver status for a Platinum Choice Benefit and Gold status for Diamond Choice Benefit), s/he will not be bumped to a higher status. Therefore, you should select a different recipient or Choice Benefit.
For selections made from the 2010 Choice Benefits (i.e. status earned in 2009), companion Medallion status is valid through February 28, 2011. For selections made from the 2011 Choice Benefits (i.e. status earned in 2010), companion Medallion status is valid through February 29, 2012.
No. Since our customers have expressed a desire to choose the benefit that is most important to them, the Systemwide Upgrade Certificates (formerly called Platinum Systemwide Upgrade Certificates) will be included as a Choice Benefit. Your Diamond or Platinum credentials package will direct you to an exclusive website where you will be able to make your selection. On this website you can choose to receive Systemwide Upgrade Certificates or you may choose another benefit.
In addition to the existing ability for customers to request an upgrade in advance, the new Systemwide Upgrade Certificates will be valid for use on the day of departure. You can request an upgrade at time of check-in or if you already have a pending upgrade request that has not cleared you can be added to the standby list on the day of departure. Platinum Medallions will be able to select 4 Systemwide Upgrade Certificates as a Choice Benefit. Diamond Medallions will be able to select 6 Systemwide Upgrade Certificates as a Choice Benefit.
As with the existing Platinum Systemwide Upgrades, the new Systemwide Upgrade Certificates will be good for travel within or between the 50 United States, Bermuda, Canada, the Caribbean and Mexico on any Delta published fare booked in Y, B, M, H, Q or K class or Northwest published fares booked in Y, B, M, H, Q or V class. For all other international travel, upgrades are valid on any published fare in Y, B or M class.
You should continue to redeem your 2009 Platinum Medallion Systemwide Upgrades by calling Reservations in advance of your flight. These upgrades are valid until the expiration date printed on the front of the certificate.
The new 2010 Systemwide Upgrade certificates will be electronic. If you select Upgrades as your Choice Benefit option, you will receive an email with your certificate numbers, and these numbers also will be noted when you log in at delta.com/profile. However, you will continue to redeem them by calling Reservations in advance of your flight and providing the agent with the certificate number(s) you wish to redeem.
Yes, you may choose to select the Delta Sky Club One-Day passes and give them as a gift.
Yes, this will be waived for Gold, Platinum and Diamond Medallion members for revenue and Award Ticket bookings.
All Award Ticket redemption fees for redemptions within 21 days of departure will be waived.
Platinum Medallion members will continue receive two redeposit or reissue waivers per year. These only apply to Award Tickets. Waiver exception is counted per change and not per itinerary. For example, if a Platinum member changes the same award ticket two times without a fee, they have used both of their waivers for the year and will pay for each change thereafter.
Award Tickets that are booked once this benefit is launched will be eligible for an upgrade, based on the rules of the Award Upgrade program. Until then any existing Award Tickets will not be eligible for complimentary upgrades.
Diamond, Platinum and Gold Medallions traveling on Award Tickets will clear beginning 1 day before departure but not until all Silver Medallions booked on discounted fares are cleared. Clearance will be based on tier level starting with Diamond Medallions.
