Flight Notifications FAQs

Below are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about Flight Notifications. If your question or comment has not been addressed, feel free to e-mail us.

What is Flight Notifications?

Flight Notifications is a service that keeps you informed about upcoming flights. If you're a SkyMiles member, you can subscribe to get updates on all your flights and anyone can sign up to receive notifications for a specific flight. There are a variety of ways to receive notifications. You can sign up now at Flight Notifications.

What is the Flight Reminder notification option?

The One-time Notification service has a reminder option that will remind you of your flights up to three days in advance. The message delivery occurs in the same time zone as the arrival and departure for which you requested notification, or you may specify a time for delivery.

What types of communication devices can receive notifications?

If you sign up for the one-time service, you can get notifications on any device that receives e-mail such as a computer, pager, mobile phone, or PDA. The subscription service for all flights has the additional option of receiving as a voice message.

I signed up for one-time notification. What do I need this confirmation number for?

If your travel plans change, you will need the confirmation number to cancel any notification messages you have requested.

Is this confirmation number the same as the confirmation number I received when I booked the flight reservation?

No, this confirmation number is not the same. This number is strictly used to view or cancel your existing one-time notifications.

Will I still get a notification if my flight number changes after I register for one-time notification?

You will receive a notification of the flight number change, however to get updates for the new flight, you need to re-register using the new flight number.

Can someone call me when I need to be notified instead of sending me an e-mail?

We will call you if your flight has been canceled and SkyMiles members who subscribe for notification of all their flights also have the option of receiving a voice message.

I can't remember which notification options I have selected—what do I do?

If you chose one-time notification, you should have a confirmation number. Go to Your Notifications and enter your confirmation number to see your selection. If you don't have your confirmation number, you will not be able to review the one-time notification.

SkyMiles members can log into their Profile with their SkyMiles number and PIN. You'll be able to tell if you've signed up for notification of all flights.

My flight plans have changed and I want to cancel my flight notification request. How do I do this?

If you subscribed through your SkyMiles Profile to receive notifications on all your flights, you will only receive notifications for flights that you have a reservation for. However, you can unsubscribe through your Profile as well.

If you signed up for one-time notification, enter your confirmation number at Your Notifications. Your current notification will be displayed. Select the "Cancel Message" button. Your notification will be canceled.

What is the "test message" link in the One-time Notification?

The test message link gives you the opportunity to make sure your notifications are sent to the same e-mail address as the one you entered on the notification sign-up page. A test message will be sent to this e-mail address immediately after the link has been selected.

I have sent a test e-mail and have not received a response back yet—what do I do?

You should re-enter your information at One-time Notifications and send another test e-mail to verify that you have entered the correct e-mail address. If you still experience problems, contact your Internet Service Provider to see if they are experiencing delays with their mail server.
