Certificates and eCredits FAQs

Whether they're printed on paper or sent to you electronically, Delta Certificates and eCredits give you a number of different ways to save big on your upcoming trips. If you don't see the answer to your question here, feel free to email us.

What types of Certificates and eCredits are there?

Delta eCerts can be redeemed for a variety of money-saving offers on eligible flights, including:

  • A specific dollar amount off the cost of an eligible fare.
  • A specific percentage off the cost of an eligible fare.
  • A specific monetary value that can be applied as payment toward a ticket.
  • A specific percentage off the number of miles being redeemed for an Award ticket.
  • A travel certificate that covers the cost of a ticket and requires the customer to only pay applicable taxes and fees.
  • A complimentary upgrade.
  • Depending on the terms and conditions, they may be combinable with other Delta eCerts or eCredits.

eCredits are electronic documents that you can apply toward the cost of a Delta ticket and any government-imposed taxes and fees for up to one year from the date they were issued.

  • When you redeem eCredits at delta.com there is no transaction fee.
  • You can also redeem eCredits at any airport or city ticket office, but additional fees may apply.
  • eCredits cannot be redeemed at travel agencies, other airlines, or other travel web sites.
  • eCredits cannot be used for any other types of fees, and they have no cash value.
  • Depending on the terms and conditions, they may be combinable with other Delta eCerts or eCredits.

eGift Certificates that were purchased through Northwest Airlines can now be redeemed with Delta Air Lines.

  • eGift Certificates do not expire.
SkyMiles Companion Certificates are exclusive, money-saving certificates good for one eligible round-trip flight—just for renewing your Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express. Learn more about SkyMiles Companion Certificates.


Can I view a list of the Certificates and eCredits I already have?

Any Certificates and eCredits that are associated with your SkyMiles account can be viewed by going to your Profile. But keep in mind that some types of Certificates are not issued to a specific SkyMiles number, so they will not be displayed here.


How do I redeem an individual Certificate or eCredit?

If you have an individual Certificate or eCredit to redeem:

  1. Click the Redeem a Certificate button.
  2. Enter your Certificate number along with any other required information. (Your certificate number may be an alpha/numeric combination or 13 numeric digits beginning with 006 or 012)
  3. Search for eligible flights and book your trip.

How do I redeem multiple Certificates or eCredits?

Some Certificates and eCredits can be combined, giving you a chance to redeem multiple Certificates for the same trip or for multiple passengers if your Certificate's terms and conditions allow it. If you have more than one Certificate to redeem:

  1. Click the Redeem Multiple Certificates button.
  2. Identify your Certificates by entering their Certificate numbers, along with any other required information. You can also enter your SkyMiles information to view all of the Certificates associated with your account.
  3. Select the Certificates you'd like to redeem.
  4. Search for eligible flights and book your trip.

Can I use my Northwest Airlines Certificates at delta.com?

Yes, most Northwest Airlines Certificates that you could redeem on nwa.com can be redeemed at delta.com. From the delta.com home page, select the "Redeem Certificates & eCredits" link. Enter your Certificate number to begin the booking process. If your Certificate can not be redeemed at delta.com you will be prompted to call Delta Reservations Sales Office for assistance.


I have some eCredits and Certificates but when I search by my SkyMiles number they aren't shown, why?

Some eCredits and Certificates may not be associated to your SkyMiles number but you still can view and redeem them by entering the certificate number along with any other required information. If you are unable to view your voucher at delta.com call Delta Reservations Sales Office for assistance.


The name on my eCredit or Certificate is incorrect, how do I correct it?

When making your reservation it is important the name on your ticket matches your government issued I. D. Some eCredits and Certificates are nontransferable, so if you have trouble completing your booking online because your certificate does not match the government issued I. D., please call the Delta Reservations Sales Office for assistance. If a nontransferable certificate appears to belong to someone else Reservations has the right to deny usage.


What if I've lost my eCredit or Certificate number, can Delta locate it?

You can try locating the eCredit or Certificate by searching with your SkyMiles account. If the eCredit or Certificate was not associated with your SkyMiles account, the Delta Reservations Sales Office may be able to assist you, however Delta can not guarantee we will be able to locate a lost eCredit or Certificate number.


My certificate requires a redemption code but I've lost that information, what can I do?

When you were given the certificate number, the redemption code was included with the information. I'm sorry but lost redemption codes can not be recovered.


Can I use my eCredit or Certificate to purchase a ticket for someone else?

Some eCredits and Certificates are transferable, so please review the Terms & Conditions. If there is residual value after redeeming the eCredit or Certificate, a new eCredit or Certificate will be created in the name of the original owner. eCredits and Certificates can only be used by one person in a reservation with the EXCEPTION of the eGift certificate.


Where do I locate my Certificate or eCredit number?

Each Delta eCredit has a unique number that can be found on the bottom center of a computer-generated receipt. The document number on an email receipt can be found in the center of the receipt identified by the type of eCredit issued. Look for the 10 numbers following 006 on your eCredit document (example 006 2112549881). If your certificate was issued to you by Northwest Airlines it will begin with 012 followed by 10 numbers. (0122112549881)


Where do I locate my eTicket number?

Your eTicket number was included in your eTicket receipt and emailed to you when you purchased your ticket. If you bought your ticket from Delta Air Lines it will begin with 006 followed by 10 numbers, if you bought your ticket from Northwest Airlines it will being with 012 followed by 10 numbers. If you need assistance, please call a Delta Reservations Sales Office.


I am not a SkyMiles member, how do I view my eCredits or Certificates?

eCredits and Certificates not associated with a SkyMiles number can still be viewed and redeemed at delta.com. From the delta.com home page select the "Redeem Certificates & eCredits" link. Just enter the certificate number along with any other required information. If you are unable to view your voucher at delta.com, please call a Delta Reservations Sales Office for assistance.


When I login with my SkyMiles number and go to "Profile" and "Certificates and eCredits" tab to view my certificates, there are none listed. Where can I find them?

Only certificates and eCredits that are associated with your SkyMiles number will be listed in your profile. To view or redeem certificates that are not associated with your SkyMiles number, select the "Redeem Certificates & eCredits" link from the delta.com home page and enter the required information. If you are unable to view your voucher at delta.com, call a Delta Reservations Sales Office for assistance.


I see the eCredit listed but it won't allow me to select it. Is there a problem?

If there isn't a box to select the eCredit or Certificate and it shows OPEN, then it is not redeemable at delta.com. If you click on the eCredit or Certificate number for more details you will see a message advising to contact a Delta Reservations Sales Office to redeem. If you have already selected one eCredit or Certificate then you will only be able to select additional eCredits or Certificates based on combinability restrictions. Are eCredits or Certificates refundable?

Only unused eGift certificates are refundable. All refunds will go to the purchaser of the eGift certificate.


I forgot to use my eCredit or Certificate when I purchased my ticket, what can I do?

eCredits and Certificates must be used at time of purchase, they can not be applied after your ticket has been issued.
