Delta customers are allowed to reserve certain aisle, window or exit row seats in the Coach cabin at flight check-in. For a nominal fee, passengers may select a Coach Choice Seat through Online Check-in at delta.com (starting 24 hours before departure) or at an airport self-service kiosk.
Coach Choice Seats are sold per flight. For example, if you're flying from Los Angeles to Philadelphia with a connection in Salt Lake City, you may purchase a Coach Choice Seat for the first flight to Salt Lake City and another Coach Choice Seat for the second flight to Philadelphia. Each flight is a separate fee.
No. The fee for a Coach Choice Seat depends on the distance traveled. The charge for a flight from Charleston to Atlanta (259 miles) is less than a Coach Choice Seat on a flight from Atlanta to Honolulu (4,502 miles). Fees may also be calculated based on seat location.
When a Coach Choice Seat is available for purchase during Online Check-in or at an airport self-service kiosk, the price appears on the seat shown in the seat map. The price is also confirmed to you when the seat is selected for purchase.
Yes. Coach Choice Seats represent less than 10 percent of all seat assignments available on Delta-operated flights. The remaining 90 percent are assigned free of charge any time when or after purchasing a reservation.
Yes. The only exclusions are non-jet aircraft and flights not offering advance seat selections.
Credit cards are the only payment method accepted. You will be asked for your credit card information when you purchase a Coach Choice Seat during Online Check-in at delta.com. You may swipe your credit card through the card reader when a Coach Choice Seat is purchased at an airport self-service kiosk.
Yes. Coach Choice seats may be purchased by passengers traveling on tickets paid for with miles. Coach Choice seats cannot be paid for by miles or certificates.
Yes. A receipt can be printed after Online Check-in at delta.com or an airport self-service kiosk once you complete your purchase.
No. All passengers can select a Coach Choice Seat without paying a membership fee.
If you do not wish to purchase a Coach Choice Seat, you can print a Seat Request card and be placed on the standby list to obtain a seat assignment. If a seat becomes available, you will receive a seat assignment and boarding pass at your flight departure gate.

Preferred Seats are select Economy Class seats that are set aside for SkyMiles Medallion and SkyTeam Elite members and are also available to full-fare paying passengers booked in the Y/B class of service. Medallion and Elite members may request these seats when making reservations. Coach Choice Seats are select seats that are available to all passengers for a fee. These seats may be purchased when passengers check in for eligible flights at delta.com or an airport kiosk within 24 hours of their scheduled departure time. Medallion and Elite members may select Coach Choice Seats at check-in at no cost.
Only SkyMiles Medallion and SkyTeam Elite members have access to Preferred Seats. The introduction of Coach Choice Seats allows all passengers to select their seats and gives customers more control over their travel experience.
