Delta Flights Operate From LHR Terminals 3 and 4. Find Your Way Before You Go.

Effective March 29, 2015, Delta-operated flights between London-Heathrow (LHR) and Atlanta (ATL), Detroit (DTW), Minneapolis (MSP), Philadelphia (PHL) and Seattle (SEA) now arrive and depart from LHR Terminal 4.

Delta-operated flights between LHR and Boston (BOS), Newark (EWR), New York (JFK) and Los Angeles (LAX) continue to arrive and depart out of LHR Terminal 3. Virgin Atlantic flights will continue to operate out of LHR Terminal 3.*

If you need to transfer between Terminals 3 and 4 at London-Heathrow, follow the airport signs to the free Heathrow Express train, which is located prior to security. Note that typical travel time via the Heathrow Express is 20 to 30 minutes. Both Delta and Virgin Atlantic customer service agents are available at London-Heathrow should you need assistance.

Otherwise, ensure smooth sailing when flying a Virgin Atlantic-operated flight by:

  • Checking in online at virgin-atlantic.com or at a Virgin Atlantic kiosk or ticket counter
  • Traveling with your Medallion card if you are Diamond, Platinum or Gold Medallion member to enjoy elite benefits
  • Reading up on Virgin Atlantic's carry-on and checked baggage allowances
  • Taking note of where your flight departs and arrives if traveling from one of the airports listed below. At these airports, Virgin Atlantic flights depart from and arrive at a separate terminal or concourse than Delta flights or only Virgin Atlantic flights are offered from the airport. For terminal information, please check flight status via delta.com or the Fly Delta app up to 24 hours prior to departure.   
     

Who is my marketing or operating carrier?

Not sure which airline is the marketing or operating carrier for your flight? The marketing carrier is determined by the two letter airline code in the flight number. For example, DL2368 is marketed by Delta Air Lines and follows the SkyMiles earning rules. However, VS18 is marketed by Virgin Atlantic and would follow the Virgin Atlantic chart. The operating carrier is the airline that flies the plane. When booking at delta.com, if a flight is flown by one of Delta’s partner airlines, the operating carrier will be noted with the flight information. If no operating carrier is noted, Delta is the operating carrier.  Additionally, a Delta-operated flight features a ticket number that begins with “006”. You may check the ticket number in “My Trips” at delta.com.

Priority Security: Priority security available at select airports. At LHR, Diamond and Platinum Medallion members will be able to use priority security through the Private Security Channel at Upper Class Wing or Upper Class Check-In. Gold Medallion members will be able to use priority security through the Fast Track Channel. Please see Virgin Atlantic agent for more details. Members are allowed to bring one guest through Priority Security and Fast Track. Please travel with and be prepared to show your Medallion card to the Virgin Atlantic representative to receive these benefits.

Priority Boarding: Diamond, Platinum and Gold Medallion members and their companions will be able to board with the Upper Class and Premium Economy passengers. Please listen to the announcement at the gate prior to boarding. Please travel with and be prepared to show your Medallion card to the Virgin Atlantic representative to receive these benefits.

Baggage Fee Waivers: Diamond, Platinum and Gold Medallion members may check one additional piece of baggage weighing up to 23kg (~50lbs). Waivers are only applicable to Diamond, Platinum or Gold Medallion members and are not extended to guests traveling with the same reservation. Clubhouse lounge access: Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse lounge access is available at select locations to Delta One™ and Upper Class passengers and Diamond, Platinum and Gold Medallion members with a same-day nonstop transatlantic flight between North America and the U.K. that is operated by Delta or Virgin Atlantic. Diamond and Platinum Medallion members may access Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses in London-Heathrow, London-Gatwick, New York-JFK, Newark, Washington-Dulles, Boston, Los Angeles and San Francisco Airports. Gold Medallion members may only access Virgin Atlantic Clubhouses within the U.S. (New York-JFK, Newark, Washington-Dulles, Boston, Los Angeles and San Francisco Airports). Diamond, Platinum and Gold Medallion members are allowed to bring one guest. While access to the Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse in the U.K. (London-Heathrow and London-Gatwick) is not available to Gold Medallion members, these members may enjoy the No. 1.
