San Diego International Airport (SAN)

The eighth largest city in the United States and the second largest in California, San Diego was once rated by Forbes magazine as the fifth wealthiest metropolis in America. Agriculture, technology, ship manufacturing, telecommunications and biology are some of the top industries that drive this SoCal city which is home to a large and active military community.

Love Among Social Animals

Perhaps the city's most famous attraction is the San Diego Zoo. With more than 4,000 animals from more than 800 species from the forests and jungles of the world prowling about on 100 acres, the zoo will carry you through a full day and will delight the kids and the adults alike. The zoo is located in scenic Balboa Park where you'll find a dizzying collection of museums including the San Diego Natural History Museum, the San Diego History Center, the San Diego Air & Space Museum and the Timken Museum of Art, just to name a few. You'll also find 19 different gardens and lots of family-friendly attractions, such as a miniature railroad and a carousel.

Factor in time to check out other San Diego high points such as the many boutiques and hip restaurants of the Gaslight District, where you'll find everything from tapas to sushi. And whatever you do, don't miss out on the incredible ships at the Maritime Museum. But experiencing San Diego means more than just staying in the city. From relaxed, village-like La Jolla in the north, to downtown and sleepy Coronado — there's plenty to discover in the surrounding areas.
