Certificates & eCredits

Whether they're printed on paper or sent to you electronically, Delta Certificates and eCredits give you a number of different ways to save big on your upcoming trips.

What types of Certificates and eCredits are there?

Delta eCerts can be redeemed for a variety of money-saving offers on eligible flights, including:

  • A specific dollar amount off the cost of an eligible fare.
  • A specific percentage off the cost of an eligible fare.
  • A specific percentage off the number of miles required to purchase an Award ticket.
  • A travel certificate that covers the cost of a ticket and requires the customer to only pay applicable taxes and fees.
  • A complimentary upgrade to the First or Business Class cabin.
  • SkyMiles Companion Certificates are exclusive, money-saving certificates good for one eligible round-trip flight--just for renewing your Delta SkyMiles Credit Card from American Express. Learn more about SkyMiles Companion Certificates.

eCredits are a specific monetary value that can be applied as payment toward the cost of a Delta ticket and any government-imposed taxes and fees. Examples of an eCredit:

  • Unused or partially used past date eTicket.
  • Delta Travel Voucher received when an eTicket exchange results in residual value.
  • Delta Dollars received for denied boarding compensation from an over sold flight.
  • Transportation Credit Voucher received as compensation for a service issue.
  • Miscellaneous Charge Order generally received when an eTicket exchange results in residual value and the original form of payment for the ticket was other than a credit card.
  • eGift certificates

When you redeem Certificates or eCredits at delta.com there is no transaction fee. You can also redeem them at any Delta ticketing location, but additional fees may apply. Most Certificates and eCredits cannot be redeemed at travel agencies, other airlines, or other travel web sites please refer to the terms and conditions for details.

Can I see a list of the Certificates and eCredits I already have?

Certificates and eCredits associated with your SkyMiles number can be viewed by going to delta.com and logging in with your SkyMiles number and then go to MY DELTA and open the Certificates and eCredits module within My Wallet. Only Certificates or eCredits that were associated to your SkyMiles number when it was issued will be displayed.

If you wish to view Certificates or eCredits not associated with your SkyMiles number visit delta.com/redeem and enter your Certificate or eCredit number. You can view up to six individual numbers at one time.

How many Certificates or eCredits can I redeem toward my ticket?

The number of Certificates or eCredits that can be applied to a single ticket purchase may depend on the Certificate and eCredit type and the date of issue. Please refer to the Terms and Conditions of each individual Certificate and eCredit for complete details.

How do I redeem an individual Certificate or eCredit?

If you have an individual Certificate or eCredit to redeem:

  1. Click the Redeem a Certificate link below.
  2. Enter your Certificate or eCredit number along with any other required information.
  3. When selecting from your flight result options, eligible flights will be identified as "Certificate applied".
  4. eCredits will be applied as a form of payment at time of purchase.

Redeem a Certificate

Can I combine the Certificates and eCredits I already have?

Some Certificates and eCredits can be combined and used for a single ticket if the Terms and Conditions allow it. If you have more than one Certificate or eCredit to redeem:

  1. Click the Redeem Multiple Certificates link below.
  2. Enter the numbers along with any other required information. You can also enter your SkyMiles information to view all of the Certificates and eCredits associated with your account.
  3. Select the Certificates and/or eCredits you would like to redeem.
  4. Search for eligible flights and book your trip.

Redeem Multiple Certificates

If my eCredit covers the cost of my ticket, why do I need to provide credit card information?

Credit card information is required for all flight purchases in order to be eligible for Risk Free Cancellation online.

eGift Certificates

eGift Certificates

  • You can redeem up to 3 eGifts in one transaction.
  • When you redeem an eGift Certificate, its value is applied to all passengers traveling on your itinerary until its remaining balance equals zero or all tickets have been covered.
  • If there is still a balance after the purchase of your Delta ticket, a new eGift in the sum of the balance amount will be issued.
  • eGift Certificates do not expire.
  • Previously purchased Northwest Certificates can be redeemed with Delta Air Lines.

Redemption Instructions

  • The Certificate Number and Redemption Code located in the Delta eGift Certificate (“Certificate”) e-mail or on the back of the Delta Gift Card (“Card”), as applicable, are required for redemption.
  • Certificates and Cards may not be redeemed within seventy-two (72) hours after the time of purchase.
  • Certificates and Cards can only be redeemed using one of the methods specified below:
    • Go to www.delta.com/redeem. You will need to enter your document number and redeption code either before searching for your flights or when preparing to pay on the review and purchase page of booking.
    • Call Delta Reservations and advise the agent that you are redeeming a Certificate or a Card. In the U.S. and Canada, call 800-221-1212 or 800-225-2525; in Japan, call 0570-077733 or 0476-31-8000; and in all other countries, call the local Delta Reservations office. This method of redemption may result in direct ticketing charges.
    • Call Delta Vacations at 800-800-1504. (Travel agents, call 800-727-1111)
    •  In person at a Delta City Ticket Office (CTO) or with Delta Airport Customer Service (ACS)
    • Through a Delta General Sales Agent (GSA)
  • Terms & Conditions 

    • Certificates and Cards may only be used for the total purchase price of air transportation, including taxes, fees, and surcharges imposed on the air transportation. They may not be used for any additional fees (including baggage fees) or for any other products or services (including class upgrades, in-flight purchases, SkyMiles Cruises, cargo, hotel stays, or car rentals).
    • Certificates and Cards may only be used for travel on Delta marketed flights, including those operated as Delta Connection® and by Delta codeshare partners with a Delta flight number.
    • Certificates and Cards may only be used for the Delta air transportation portion of a Delta Vacations package.
    • Certificates and Cards can be issued only in U.S. dollars (“USD”). If a Certificate or a Card is used for the purchase of a ticket issued in a currency other than USD, the full value of the Certificate or Card will be converted to that currency using the Bankers Rate of Exchange in effect on the date of ticket issuance, and the rate of exchange will be indicated on the ticket.
    • Tickets purchased using Certificates and Cards are subject to the applicable Delta Contract of Carriage and fare rules (including change penalties).
    • A maximum of three forms of payment (including Certificates or Cards) can be applied towards a single ticket. Certificates and Cards cannot be used in conjunction with any other certificate, voucher or credit towards a single ticket.
    • Certificates and Cards are not reloadable and have no expiration date.
    • Certificates and Cards, including those that are lost, stolen, or destroyed, will not be replaced by Delta for any reason.
    • Certificates and Cards are not credit, debit or charge cards, and have no implied warranties.
    • Certificates and Cards are not refundable and cannot be redeemed or exchanged for cash, check or credit except where refund or redemption is required by law.
    • Where Certificates or Cards are redeemed for a ticket, but travel is not taken, the value of the redeemed ticket (after any applicable penalties) will be provided in accordance with Delta’s standard policy regarding ticket refunds.
    • Certificates and Cards may only be sold by Delta and Delta-licensed vendors. Certificates and Cards that are for sale or sold by an unlicensed vendor are subject to confiscation or voiding by Delta.
    • Certificates and Cards that are altered or obtained fraudulently are subject to confiscation or voiding by Delta.
    • Delta is not responsible for Certificates or Cards that are undeliverable or not received due to inaccurate delivery information provided by the purchaser.
    • Delta reserves the right to refuse, cancel or hold for review transactions initiated using Certificates or Cards for suspected fraud, incorrect certificate or card denomination, or violations of these terms and conditions.
    •  Delta may at any time and without notice change these terms and conditions or contract with a third party to administer the Certificate program or the Card program.
    • Use of Certificates and Cards is subject to applicable law. In the event of a conflict between these terms and conditions and applicable law, applicable law will govern.

SkyMiles Companion Certificates

With the Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card or Delta Reserve Credit Card from American Express in your wallet, you’ll receive a Companion Certificate each year just for renewing your Card. With this Certificate, you can invite someone special to fly with you on an eligible round-trip domestic flight.

  • As a Platinum Delta SkyMiles Credit Card Member, you’ll receive a domestic Economy Class Companion Certificate each year upon renewal.*
  • As a Delta Reserve Credit Card Member, you’ll receive a domestic First Class or Economy Class Companion certificate each year upon renewal.*

Where do I find my Companion Certificate?

A Companion Certificate is automatically issued to your SkyMiles account each year following your Card renewal. Just log on to delta.com and go to ‘My Delta.’ Your Companion Certificate will be waiting for you in ‘My Wallet’ under ‘Credits and Certificates.’

How do I redeem a Companion Certificate?

You can find and redeem your Companion Certificate online following these easy steps:

  1. Log on to delta.com.
  2. Go to My Delta.
  3. Click on ‘Credits and Certificates’ in the ‘My Wallet’ box.
  4. Select the available Certificate and click ‘Continue.’ 
  5. Search for eligible flights and book your trip. 

Alternatively, if you already have your Companion Certificate code handy, you can also follow the steps below:

  1. Click here to redeem a certificate (and log in with your SkyMiles account, if you aren’t logged in already).
  2. Enter the 8-character certificate code from the letter or email you received.
  3. Search for eligible flights and book your trip. 

Please note that you need to both book and complete your travel by the expiration date listed for your Companion Certificate.


Platinum Companion Certificate

* Payment of the government taxes and fees ranging from $28.20 to $69.20 for itineraries with two to four flight segments, is required. Baggage charges and other restrictions apply for details.

Eligibility:

Eligible on Delta, Delta Connection carrier and Delta Shuttle flights only (excludes all other Delta-designated codeshare flights). Companion certificate is valid for one round-trip Economy Class companion ticket with the purchase of certain adult round-trip fares on published routings within the 48 contiguous United States. Residents of Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico or the United States Virgin Islands (USVI) must originate from there to the 48 contiguous United States and have an address on their SkyMiles account in Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico or the USVI. Each year, the Companion Certificate will be made available for redemption on delta.com in your renewal month. Companion ticket requires payment of applicable government taxes and fees which vary and depend upon the number of flight segments included in the itinerary and range from $28.20 to $69.20 for itineraries with two to four flight segments. Taxes and fees include Federal Excise Tax of $4.00 for each domestic flight segment, Passenger Facility Charge(s) of up to $4.50 for each flight segment, a September 11th Security Fee of $5.60 per one-way trip, a $5 Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service user fee for flights from the USVI, and a U.S. International Air Transportation tax of up to $17.40 round-trip (for travel to/from Alaska/Hawaii) or $35.00 round-trip (for travel to/from Puerto Rico/USVI). Cancellations/Ticket Changes/Reissuance:


If the primary ticket or the Companion ticket is cancelled, both tickets will be cancelled and the Companion ticket will not be reissued. Subject to the fare rules of the primary ticket, the value of the primary ticket, less a $200 administrative service charge and any fare difference, may be applied to future travel. Cancellations are subject to the rules of the fare purchased. Neither a new Companion Certificate nor Companion ticket will be issued upon a cancellation.

If the primary ticket and Companion ticket are changed after issuance, subject to the fare rules of the primary ticket, there will be a $200 administrative service charge for each of the primary ticket and the Companion ticket, plus a charge for the fare difference of the primary ticket. Changes are subject to the rules of the fare purchased and are subject to seat availability. After travel has commenced, rerouting is not permitted.

Transferability:

The Companion Certificate is transferable, Primary ticket and Companion ticket are not transferable once issued. Companion Certificate may not be bartered or sold. Companion Certificates or Companion tickets acquired through prohibited sale/barter transactions are void and will not be honored for travel.

In the event of flight irregularities and/or cancellations, alternative flights will be on Delta only.
