Airport Advisory Information

Your time is valuable. Whether you're flying for business or going on vacation with your family, we want to help make your travel experience as stress-free as possible.

During your travels, you may run into longer than normal wait times or other airport delays. And even though these delays may be out of Delta's control, we want you to be aware so you can plan accordingly.

New York, New York (JFK)

  • Effective May 24, 2013, all Delta flights at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) operate from Terminal 2 (T2) or the new Terminal 4 (T4).
  • Please confirm your terminal and gate before arriving for your flight. Terminal information is available 24 hours prior to departure, and gate information is available 2½ hours prior via Online Check-in, Flight Status or the Fly Delta app.
  • The cutoff time for checked baggage at JFK is 60 minutes prior to departure.
  • We recommend that you clear security in the terminal from which your flight departs. However, if you need to switch terminals after clearing security, a shuttle is available to transfer you. Although times can vary, the ride takes an average of 15-25 minutes.
  • Please note T2 closes at 8:30 p.m., and all passengers checking in after 8 p.m. should proceed to T4.

Atlanta, Georgia

Due to unexpected security checkpoint wait times at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, Delta recommends that Atlanta-originating customers arrive at the airport at least two hours prior to their departure time. Delta is working with the Transportation Security Administration and airport officials to reduce security checkpoint wait times.

Syracuse, New York (SYR)

Due to new security screening location in Syracuse, New York, Delta Air Lines strongly urges passengers traveling with checked bags to arrive at least 2 hours prior to your scheduled departure time and passengers traveling without bags to arrive at least 90 minutes prior to your scheduled departure time.

VENICE, ITALY (VCE)

Due to heavy airport traffic between June 1 – September 1, 2013 at Marco Polo Airport (VCE), passengers arriving more than 3 hours prior to departure may not find a place to sit in the gate areas. Check-in counters open 3 hours prior to departure and close promptly 1 hour prior. Please allow adequate time to check in for your flight, and remember, you can check in at delta.com, via mobile check-in or by using the Fly Delta app.  If your flight is delayed, you should still check in according to the flight’s original departure time.

SAO PAULO, BRAZIL (GRU)

Effective April 2, 2013  all Delta flights will operate out of terminal 2, the same terminal as Gol, at Sao Paulo’s Governador Andre Franco Montoro Airport (GRU), commonly known as International Guarulhos Airport.

NEW YORK, NEW YORK — LAGUARDIA AIRPORT (LGA)

  • Due to construction, passengers departing from the Marine Air Terminal, or Shuttle passengers, may experience a temporary rerouting through the Main Entrance to get to Ticketing and the security checkpoint. Additionally, arriving passengers to the Marine Air Terminal may experience a temporary rerouting outside but under a canopy to get to Baggage Claim.
  • Shuttle passengers should also note that they may experience longer than normal security wait times, which could be up to 20 minutes.

QUITO, ECUADOR (UIO)

Effective February 20, 2013, Mariscal Sucre International Airport (UIO) will move to a new location in Tababela, approximately 35 km (21 miles) northeast of downtown Quito, Ecuador. Prior to the move, flights will continue to arrive and depart from the airport’s current downtown location.

Due to traffic congestion and road conditions, passengers departing from the new airport in Tababela should allow ample travel time in order to arrive at the airport in time for their flight.
