Airport Advisory Information

Your time is valuable. Whether you're flying for business or going on vacation with your family, we want to help make your travel experience as stress-free as possible.

During your travels, you may run into longer than normal wait times or other airport delays. And even though these delays may be out of Delta's control, we want you to be aware so you can plan accordingly.

Travel from Tokyo/Narita (NRT)

During Golden Week holiday season (April 26 through May 6, 2014), heavy traffic is expected at Narita International Airport. Delta recommends arriving early enough so you are ready to proceed through the security checkpoint.

Travel From Venice/Marco Polo Airport (VCE)

Due to heavy airport traffic March 30–October 26, 2014 at Marco Polo Airport (VCE), passengers may experience limited seating in boarding gate areas. Check-in counters open 3½ hours prior to departure and close promptly 1 hour before departure. Please allow adequate time to check in for your flight, or check in using, mobile check-in or the Fly Delta app. If your flight is delayed, you should still check in according to your original flight departure time.

We do not recommend arriving earlier than 3½ hours prior to departure, as check-in will not be available for your flight. Please note that seating is not available in the terminal’s enclosed departure level. As such, we recommend that you relax in the bar or the open-air areas where seating is available until check-in desks open.

Travel to/from London-Heathrow (LHR)

  • Effective April 2, 2014 (local arrival/departure time), Delta flights between London-Heathrow (LHR) and Boston (BOS), New York-JFK and Seattle (SEA) will operate from LHR Terminal 3.
  • Please note that new service between Seattle and London-Heathrow starts March 30, 2014, and will operate from LHR Terminal 4 through April 1, 2014 (local arrival/departure time) before moving to LHR Terminal 3 on April 2, 2014.
  • With the exception of these three routes (LHR-BOS, LHR-JFK and LHR-SEA), all other Delta flights will continue to operate from LHR Terminal 4.
  • If you need to transfer between Terminals 3 and 4 at London-Heathrow, follow the airport signs to the free Heathrow Express train, which is located before security, outside of the airport.  Typical travel time via the Heathrow Express is 20 minutes.
  • Please confirm your terminal and gate before arriving for your flight via Online Check-in, Flight Status or the Fly Delta app.
  • Both Delta and Virgin Atlantic customer service agents are available at London-Heathrow should you need assistance.

Bahamas, Bermuda and Aruba Departures

These airports are experiencing longer than normal customs processing times. Departing passengers are encouraged to adhere to the recommended airport arrival time for international flights, which is three hours prior to departure.

U.S. citizens must pay Argentina’s $160 reciprocity fee online prior to departure. To pay, register for the Provincia Payment System and submit your payment online. Be sure to print your receipt and keep it with your travel documents to provide proof of payment.
