You’ve reached Medallion status and now it’s time to enjoy the perks. Get to know all the details of your benefits and make the most of them.
Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) are used as a counter to determine SkyMiles Medallion status. MQMs can be earned through flight activity or SkyMiles partner activity. Medallion status can also be earned through the total number of segments flown. All paid fare classes eligible to earn MQMs count towards Medallion Qualification Segments (MQSs):
The qualification time frame for Medallion status is from January 1 to December 31 of each year.
Effective January 1, 2014, Medallion status for U.S.-based members is earned with Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) or Medallion Qualification Segments (MQSs) plus your annual spending on Delta flights, which is measured by Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs). Learn More.
MQMs earned through flight activity are calculated based on distance traveled and fare class purchased on Delta, Delta Connection®, Delta Shuttle®, and select airline partners.
As a Medallion member you receive bonus1 miles in addition to your earned Medallion Qualification Miles for every qualifying flight.
For travel through December 31, 2014, Diamond Medallion members earn a 125% mileage bonus, Platinum Medallion and Gold Medallion members earn a 100% mileage bonus, while Silver Medallion members earn a 25% mileage bonus. This bonus is applied based on miles flown or a 500-mile minimum, whichever is greater.
For travel beginning January 1, 2015, general SkyMiles members earn five miles per dollar spent. Silver Medallion members earn two additional miles per dollar (for a total of seven), Gold Medallion members earn an additional three miles per dollar (for a total of eight), Platinum Medallion members earn four additional miles per dollar (for a total of nine), and Diamond Medallion members earn six additional miles per dollar (for a total of eleven).Ticket price eligible for mileage accrual includes base fare and carrier-imposed surcharges, but excludes government-imposed taxes and fees. Medallion mileage bonus per USD spent based on earned Medallion status at the time of travel.
1In order to receive the Medallion mileage bonus, a member must earn Medallion status through either the required Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) or Medallion Qualification Segments (MQSs). Members who receive complimentary Medallion status are not eligible to receive the Medallion mileage bonus for the complimentary Medallion year (excludes members who receive complimentary annual Medallion status through the Million Miler™ program or Choice Benefits gifted Medallion status).
