As part of our ongoing efforts to improve your travel experience on Delta, we've made updates to the SkyMiles program. Starting January 1, 2015, miles are now earned based on ticket price to better reward customers who spend more with Delta. We've also created more redemption options.
Improved flight shopping capabilities are now available that make it easier to compare a flight's price in miles vs. money.
In addition to Award Travel, you can redeem your miles for a Delta Sky Club® membership, First Class upgrades, exclusive events and destinations with SkyMiles Experiences™ and more.
You can redeem Award Tickets for any Delta Air Lines flight—with no blackout dates.
Flights flown on or after January 1, 2015, now earn redeemable miles based on the ticket price. Also, members may now book One-Way Awards, take advantage of Miles + Cash Award options and continue to enjoy new Award Travel shopping.
You now earn redeemable miles based on your ticket price (base fare plus any carrier-imposed surcharges) instead of distance flown. This change applies to Delta-marketed (flight number with a “DL” airline code) or Delta-ticketed (the ticket number will begin with “006”) flights.
For flights purchased in a currency other than U.S. dollars (USD), the currency will be converted to USD based on the IATA 5-day currency exchange rate at the time of ticketing. Then the same mileage earn rates per USD will be applied.
