SkyMiles Medallion® Status Match Challenge

If you're a top-tier flyer with another airline, you can request to participate in our one-time SkyMiles Medallion Status Match Challenge and qualify for comparable status with the Medallion program.

As a Medallion member, you'll enjoy exclusive privileges such as Unlimited Complimentary Upgrades, access to Preferred Seats, and waived baggage fees.


If you meet the criteria to participate, you will receive Platinum, Gold or Silver Medallion status for 90 days, based on your current elite level with another airline. The 90-day period will start when a member's request has been processed.

If you registered for the offer prior to June 30, 2015 and you complete the flight requirements, your Medallion status will be maintained until January 31, 2016.

If you register for the offer between July 1, 2015 and June 30, 2016 and you complete the flight requirements, your Medallion status will be maintained until January 31, 2017.

In order to extend your Medallion status after the 90 days, you'll need to earn a specific number of Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) or Medallion Qualification Segments (MQSs) within the 90 days of enrolling by flying Delta or Delta Connection®. The number of MQMs or MQSs required is based on your matched Medallion level.

12,500 MQMs or 15 MQSs

Customers who enroll in the Challenge prior to June 30, 2015 and meet the flight requirement within a 90-day period from enrollment will retain their matched Medallion status through January 31, 2016 (through January 31, 2017 if you register between July 1, 2015 and June 30, 2016), unless a higher Medallion level is earned by reaching published Medallion qualification thresholds. Medallion status must be earned in subsequent years by traveling the required amount of MQMs or MQSs and spending the required Medallion Qualification Dollars (MQDs – U.S.-based members only).

Criteria for participation:

  • Member has not received a status match or complimentary Medallion status in the past
  • Is currently a non-Medallion member
  • Must present valid and current elite credential or statement showing elite status from another airline

Please Note:

  • A physical Medallion membership card will not be issued for the 90-day qualification period. You may enjoy Medallion benefits on Delta or Delta Connection by providing your SkyMiles number when making reservations or at check-in. You can also access your Membership Card through the Fly Delta app. During the 90-day period, you will not have access to all reciprocal Medallion benefits with Delta's partner airlines, including access to SkyTeam® lounges.
  • Members who are matched to Platinum Medallion status will not be eligible for Choice Benefits until the flight requirement to maintain Platinum Medallion status is met.
  • Through this offer, you may maintain the same or lower Medallion status level as your matched status. If you are matched to Silver Medallion status, you will not be able to earn Gold Medallion status through this offer, even if you will fly more than 12,500 MQMs or 15 MQSs during the offer period. But if you have been matched to Gold Medallion status and you only fly 6,250 MQMs or 8 MQSs, you will earn Silver Medallion status. Your Medallion status will be returned to non-Medallion status if you are unable to complete the minimum flight requirement before the end of the 90-day period.
  • Medallion status match is only offered for Platinum, Gold and Silver Medallion levels.

Members who earn Platinum, Gold or Silver Medallion status beyond the 90-day period through this promotion will be updated in the system within five business days of completion of required Delta or Delta Connection MQMs or MQSs. A membership card will arrive within four to six weeks thereafter. Members who are eligible and complete the Status Match Challenge are ineligible for Rollover MQMs unless they earn more MQMs and MQDs than the matched status requirement for the full year. For example, if a member is matched Silver Medallion status in 2015 and also earns 30,000 MQMs and $3,000 MQDs in 2015, s/he will be able to roll over 5,000 MQMs since the Silver Medallion requirement is 25,000 MQMs and $3,000 MQDs.
