Delta allows you to offer our most valued customers preferential advance seat assignments. This service is called Preferred Seating ("P" seats). This service is offered on Delta (excluding Delta Shuttle and Codeshare flights), ASA, Comair, SkyWest and Chautauqua aircraft and is subject to availability. (Please note that select seats may be reassigned to passengers with certain categories of disability.)

A number of choice Coach/Economy Class seats are set aside and offered to qualified passengers. Qualified passengers include:

  • Passengers ticketed in Y and B class
  • Medallion SkyMiles members:
    • Silver Medallion (FO)
    • Gold Medallion (GM)
    • Platinum Medallion (PM)
    • Diamond Medallion (DM)
  • Passenger traveling with a Medallion SkyMiles member
  • Agency or Corporate accounts due to contract negotiations
  • Unaccompanied minor (only if non-preferred seats are depleated).
  • SkyTeam Elite and Elite Plus partner members
  • Flying Colonel (FC)

Preferred seats are shown on the seat map by a P indicator, following a row number. Preferred seats may include desirable window, aisle and exit row seats*. The SkyMiles number must appear in the PNR (OSI or SSRFQTV) and reflect DM, FC, MM, PM, GM, or FO status.

Note: Preferred seating is only available, prior to day of departure, for passengers listed above. Preferred Seats for purchase are made available to all passengers on the day of departure. Circumvention of the seating program is subject to audit and debit memos. All SkyTeam Elite and SkyTeam Elite Plus members have the benefit of requesting a preferred seat assignment when their reservation is booked. The preferred seat request should be entered as NN. The requestor will receive the response RS immediately provided the seat requested is available. Please do not request a preferred seat in an OSI entry when a DL-marketed flight is operated by a SkyTeam partner.

Air France

Air France policy regarding seat assignments in Voyageur (Economy Class) cabin on all Air France long haul flights (including Air France operated code-share flights)  includes the following:

  • Members of any SkyTeam partner frequent flyer program that have Elite Plus or Elite status are entitled to preferred seating in Voyageur.  The preferred seat section will be situated in the forward section of the economy cabin, and reserved exclusively for these members, including those with award tickets.
  • Elite and Elite Plus passengers traveling as part of a group cannot be assigned preferred seats. -Preferred seats can be assigned to all passengers in the same PNR with Elite passengers, including families with children and infants.
  • Behind the preferred seat section, seats will be assignable to all economy passengers.
  • All seat map requests in Voyageur will display the entire cabin.  Any requests for seats in the preferred section for passengers that do not show a frequent flyer Elite number in the PNR will be refused. 
  • Whatever the class of reservation, Elite and Elite Plus passengers always benefit from a seat assignment except when traveling with a group.
  • The request prerogative and the seat assignment in the preferred seats zone for Elite and Elite Plus passengers is extended to all passengers booked in the same reservation file even in the case of families traveling with infant or child. However a request in the preferred seats area will be refused if the passenger is not Elite or Elite Plus.
