Delta Updates its Same-Day Travel Programs

Effective April 23, 2013, Delta is amending its same-day confirmed and same-day standby travel programs in order to offer more flexibility to customers.  

Delta’s same-day confirmed program allows customers to request a same day-of-flight change to their itinerary. A fee may apply. The same-day confirmed travel option is valid for travel within the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands on Delta and Delta Connection operated flights.

Delta’s same-day standby program allows customers to stand by for another flight on the day of departure if a same-day confirmed change cannot be confirmed. The same-day standby travel option is valid for travel within the United States, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands on Delta and Delta Connection operated flights. The same-day standby travel option is not valid for flights to/from Canada.

Same-Day Confirmed

 

Current Policy

New Policy Effective April 23, 2013

Booking Window

Allows customers to request a day-of-flight change within three hours of the new flight’s scheduled departure time.

Allows customers to request a day-of-flight change any time prior to the scheduled departure time of the original flight.   

Class of Service

Allows the new flight to be booked in the same cabin as the original flight.

Allows the new flight to be booked in the same booking class of service (e.g. L, T, K, Q) as the original ticket.

Same-Day Confirmed Fee

Diamond/Platinum/Gold Medallion members:

  • No fee is charged

All other customers:

  • A $50 fee applies

Diamond/Platinum/Gold Medallion members:

  • No fee will be charged, provided the changes are for new flight departure times that are three hours before or after the original departure time.
  • For flights departing outside of the three-hour window, a $50 fee will apply.

All other customers:

  • A $50 fee per change will apply

Same-Day Standby (Not applicable for flights to/from Canada) 

 Current Policy

Diamond/Platinum/Gold Medallion members:

  • Allowed to stand by for any flight on the day of departure for
    no charge.

All other customers:

  • No voluntary standby is permitted on the day of departure.

All customers may stand by for a flight if seats in original booking class of service are not available to confirm or if the new flight is outside the complimentary window for Diamond/Platinum/Gold Medallion members.

Diamond/Platinum/Gold Medallion members:

  • Can stand by for earlier or later flights. No fee will be charged.
    Receive priority standby status.

All other customers*:

  • Can stand by for earlier flights only. A $50 fee will apply. The fee will be charged once the passenger has been cleared and confirmed on the flight.

*Subject to standby list capacity limits

Additional Information

  • Customers may continue to make same-day changes via delta.com, at the airport kiosk, Reservations or at a full-service ticketing position.
  • Delta Reservations and Delta Sales Support may be contacted if assistance is needed in honoring Delta’s same-day policy for tickets that were purchased prior to April 23, 2013.
